The new SD satellite LF already has its own set of bugs. The titlebar on the last forecast map on the :58 LF read "-'S FORECAST."
That's Vizrt for you.

Local Forecast / Re: New SD Satellite LF

A few things bother me about this new SD Satellite LF.

First up, on the flavors that I've seen, there are no Watches/Warnings page. This seems like an important part of the LF, because if you're seeing the satellite LF, that means you're not seeing a local STAR which would give you any information pertaining to severe weather watches or warnings that you may be under. The old SD Satellite LF had these products displayed first thing on the LF, because they're important, and the HD Satellite LF (which this new SD Satellite LF seems to based on) has the Watches/Warnings product. Why doesn't the new SD Satellite LF have the product? Why the SD version of the Satellite LF doesn't use the same flavor lineup as the HD version is beyond me, because they seem to be very similar in almost every other way.

Another is the radar/satellite loops. They seem to go by too quickly (only two loops) and they seem to be somewhat lagy and jumpy; the animation is anything but smooth. Another thing I've noticed is that the radar/satellite does show Severe Thunderstorm/Tornado watch polygons (like the HD Satellite LF and previous SD Satellite LF); however, on TWC's new radar system that they use for national segments, they don't show the watch polygons, they show the individual counties under the watch area, which seems to be the preferred way to display the watches, as noted by the SPC.

It looks like they're finally phasing out their old WPS/WSI satellite LF system that had been a fixture since 1999 with a more-modern Vizrt-based satellite LF, not unlike the current HD Satellite LF. The finny thing is, I predicted this would happen nearly two years ago...

I saw that same thing happen about a week ago with Carl Parker when he was at the expert desk.

I'm not sure if this is on all IntelliStars or some kind of experiment, but there is another new flavor I saw during the 4pm hour at 4:08 and 4:38, the moon data almanac is being used and the temperature data almanac is being used at :28 and :58. I haven't seen the moon data since June 2009. I actually like the idea of both versions being used.

Very interesting. I remember this idea had been floating around since at least 2006, so it's neat to see if they're going to implement it.

Nope. I've understood the point or the fascination that people have with the game. It's just flicking around birds trying to hit things. :dunno:

Cheapest around here is $3.75.

Interesting video. But why would the Extended Forecast come up "at random"? I though the 4000 always had pre-arranged flavor lineups.
That Extended Forecast you're seeing is part of the national TWC feed. It's not generated by the 4000.

Today on WUWA, they're using an orange version of the new titlebars that premiered a few weeks ago. Are these new?
