As a side note, the "I2 alpha" that people refer to @ cablevision NY is not a Star at all.  Just a random morsel of inside information to boggle your minds.

I figured that it was not a STAR considering it had nothing, not even the infamous "dot" on the ID screen.

But... if it isn't a STAR... what could it be?

Not sure where I heard this; it could be speculation, but I believe I've heard that the NYC Cablevision Alpha "STAR" is a direct localized TWC feed coming from TWC HQ in Atlanta.

I disagree.  The text-based local forecast can provide much more information than can be provided on regional/metro maps or in the 7-day forecast.  On days when it's just going to be sunny and pleasant, maybe they can seem superfluous, but when any significant weather event takes place, they can prove of vital importance, conveying information that otherwise wouldn't be available.

I completely agree. It would be asinine to remove the 36- and 48-hour text forecasts.

Got to see They Might Be Giants in concert last night in Lancaster. I've been wanting to see them play live for years, and as soon as I saw that they'd be playing somewhere local, I ordered tickets. I went with my sister and a buddy of mine. Had an epically amazing time.

My TWC feed has been frozen on a weather.com/desktop Local On The 8s promo for the past hour or so. It appears that the IntelliStar may have frozen.
