... HARD FREEZE WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM CST SATURDAY...
THE ARCTIC AIR MASS WILL REMAIN IN PLACE OVER SOUTH TEXAS TONIGHT. AS CLEAR SKIES DEVELOP LATER THIS EVENING... THE SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE AREA WILL SETTLE INTO SOUTH TEXAS LEADING TO LIGHT WINDS LATE TONIGHT. FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS EVENING AND CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING. A HARD FREEZE IS EXPECTED SATURDAY MORNING AS MINIMUM TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM THE MID TEENS OVER THE NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE BRUSH COUNTRY TO THE LOWER 20S ALONG THE COASTLINE AND ALONG THE RIO GRANDE. THE FREEZING TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE MID MORNING HOURS SATURDAY.
RESIDENTS SHOULD PREPARE FOR THIS HARD FREEZE EVENT. MAKE SURE THAT INDIVIDUALS WHO MAY NEED EXTRA HELP PREPARING FOR THE COLD ARE PROVIDED FOR... ESPECIALLY THE ELDERLY AND THE VERY YOUNG. WEAR EXTRA PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN VENTURING OUTDOORS. ANIMALS AND SENSITIVE PLANTS WILL REQUIRE PROTECTION. THE HARD FREEZE COULD DAMAGE UNPROTECTED OR EXPOSED PIPES. PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT TENDER VEGETATION AND EXPOSED PIPES IS ADVISED.
