General Discussion / Re: Playstation/Wii -Video Games

I was very unhappy when Wii discontinued online play.  The online services actually started to disappear less than a year after I bought it.  (Yes, I'm a late bloomer.)  I especially miss the online voting.
Oh you mean the Wii's "Everybody Votes Channel"? Oh man that's a classic. Yeah it is quite disappointing Wiiconnect24 was discontinued. I loved the Forecast Channel that was provided. I think WNI Weathernews provided weather conditions & forecasts for that channel. I wish the Wii U had the amazing channels that the Wii had.

Emulator Videos / Re: IntelliSTAR 2 HD Emulations by Aero Films

The sunsets were from Tampa Bay that I found from the Tampa Area news affiliates. And the two grassland pics were from some anonymous websites. It was hard for me as well.

Maybe TWC decided two ads are better than one!  :dunno: It could be intentional.

TWC Fan Art / Re: WeatherScan Rebrand

That is a really good idea. I hope the weather channel does this if they're going to update weatherscan.
Great job!

Maybe this whole thing of buying an IntelliStar 2/ IntelliStar 2 Jr. is why Verizon FiOS decided to drop the weather channel. I'm not sure when this notice was sent to the cable headends, but alluding to the fact that cable companies are forced to upgrade, I infer that this was prolly the reason FiOS dropped TWC.

The weatherscan intelliStar is different from the weather channel's IS. Still it's sad to know that the Allen Jackson narration will soon be discontinued. IMO the Jim Cantore narration doesn't sound much like Cantore.

Mostly cloudy and 76 °F.  Winds WSW at 1 mph.

Wind at 1 mile/hour? I've never seen that in my life before!

IntelliStars I've seen:

Tampa, Florida (Verizon FiOS)
Star ID: 26777

Tampa, Florida (Bright House Networks)
I was a child when I saw this star. Sadly I don't know much about this star.

Chattanooga, Tennessee
Back in 2009 while I was channel surfing at the hotel I was at. Cable provider unknown.

Atlanta, Georgia
Summer 2011 when I visited Stone Mountain in Georgia. Cable provider unknown.
I saw one LF, but I don't remember what it looked like.

Panama City, Florida (COX)
I saw the IntelliStar while watching Weather Center Live at 12 AM CDT on July 20th, 2013 in my hotel room.
The Local weather ID is unknown (I didn't pay attention)

IntelliStar 2 Jr.s I've seen:
None so far.

IntelliStar 2s I've seen:

St. Petersburg, Florida (Bright House Networks)
I've recorded a couple of LFs.
Star ID unknown.

Orlando, Florida (Bright House Networks)
In late 2013 and 2014. I've taken pictures of this IS2, but I still need to record a LF.

Weatherscan IntelliStars I've seen:

Tampa, Florida (Verizon FiOS)
Star ID: 026778

Tallahassee, Florida (Xfinity)
Star ID unknown. I briefly caught a glimpse of weatherscan while turning the television on in a room of my aunt's house.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: VZ FiOS dropped TWC
« on: April 13, 2015, 09:07:11 PM »
Verizon FiOS and The Weather Channel have officially ended their negotiations. TWC is now urging people to change  TV providers, according to keeptheweatherchannel.com:
Quote
Our efforts to reach a resolution with Verizon FiOS have ended.
Along with you, we hoped that FiOS would reverse their decision to drop The Weather Channel. Unfortunately, even a lower price and customer outrage did not move them.

Charging you a premium price and then offering you an inferior weather resource is a disservice to you.

Find your new provider today!
Darn. It looks like an end of an era. I just don't know what's going on in the minds of the corporate owners of both TWC & FiOS. Shocking to see the weather channel give up negotiating. I enjoyed watching weatherscan during severe t-storm warnings because the STAR would automatically receive updates to an issued warning instantly. Like I said, I don't know what the CEOs are thinking, but it's sad to see I'll never get TWC back. And right now, I'm not able to switch providers because I'm in a contract. Oh Verizon... :club:

General Discussion / Re: AccuWeather Channel
« on: April 13, 2015, 05:16:06 PM »
Guys, I think AccuWeather is using The Weather Channel's 2005 storm alert theme. During the featured video of the day, I heard it playing in the background. Not sure if they used it with or without The Weather Channel's consent.
