My Autumn 2013 Playlist

This is probably the longest mock playlist I've ever worked on, I initially started on this back in late May. I also didn't bother doing a morning list, only a daytime, primetime, and overnight list (14 songs in each = 42 40 songs)

File attachment below, it includes time ins/outs I would use if the playlist was real. It's posted below in text form if you don't want to download the attachment.

List REVISED.

Invest 97L - This one is the only one that has an ounce of potential to do something, but I still remain a skeptic.

Two disturbances are being watched in the Atlantic. One is expected to fish, the other....eh. I'll leave it at that.

After a lull in the tropics across the Atlantic, the global models such as the GFS/ECMWF/CMC are strongly suggesting a tropical wave exiting the African Coast (circled in red in the image below)will develop into a tropical storm/hurricane once we head into the first third of September.

Well, looks like the lull will continue in the Atlantic. This is beginning to get weird to me that were heading into the peak of Hurricane season and it looks to be quite the opposite. We still haven't even had a hurricane develop yet which is unusual. I can't remember a hurricane season this dead in activity before.

I believe Hurricane Gustav (2002) was the latest we've gone before getting our first Atlantic Basin Hurricane. It became a hurricane on September 11, 2002. If we go that far into hurricane season without a named storm becoming a hurricane I'll be shocked. :o

General Weather Chat / Re: Farmers' Almanac Winter 2013-2014 Outlook

Oh how I missed the Winter of 2009-2010, I saw snow fall (and accumulate) every month from Jan-March that winter.

I don't care if it it's COLD/WET, COLD/DRY, MILD/DRY, or WARM/WET as long as I get at least my one 2 inch snowstorm I was robbed of for two winters straight I will be very happy.  :D

and I won't have to nag, whine and complain later... :club:

Their forecast for the Southeast may turn out to be pretty accurate. Were expected to remain in a neutral ENSO pattern well into Winter 2014. Eventhough that could mean equal chances of anything, I feel like the pattern were in now if it were to continue into winter would lean more El Nino-ish (Chilly & Wet like the map says), but that's just my opinion and I could end up wrong anyway.

Also they mentioned they're predicting the Superbowl to be a Stormbowl with a snowstorm (or blizzard) and frigid temps in the Feb 1-3rd timeframe.

Anybody wanna place bets on whether this will be a huge win or fail for the Farmer's Almanac? :P

NHC has a 70% chance of an invest becoming a tropical depression in the southern Bay of Campeche.  A reconnaissance aircraft is investigating the disturbance this afternoon.  It would have to form quickly before it reaches the coast of Mexico.  Otherwise, the rest of the Atlantic appears quiet, but the Eastern Pacific has remained active as the next named storm will start with a J there.

It's now Tropical Depression Six

Granted, were still at least two weeks away from any potential threat to the US (if there is any), but considering the global models are already honing in on this feature this far out, it's worth keeping an eye on...

I saw him for the first time today. He looks very young, like high school young. I bet he's one of if not the youngest OCMs there now.

Local Forecast / Re: Question About WeatherStar4000 BG and Radar Font
« on: August 23, 2013, 05:10:47 PM »
The original background was solid colors with a noise pattern bordering the transition between the colors. The current one uses a similar scheme, but it gives a much smoother look. When I recreated it for the emulator, I created a standard Photoshop gradient, then exported it through the "save for web & devices" option, set output to GIF, color reduction algorithm to "selective", dithering algorithm to "noise" and colors to "12". The video adapter only displayed 256 colors (8 bit), which was somewhat common at the time.

The big blue box is actually five concentric rectangles with a border color that makes it appear smooth.

No idea on the radar banner fonts. I did look through font libraries and tried the Bitstream's "what the font", but never found a good match. On the emulator's banners, the letters were traced out on a separate layer since I couldn't find a suitable font. Keep in mind the font looks the way it does because the image is sent at about half size and is enlarged for display by the 4000 (same with the radar maps and data).

Thank you for your insight on this. It's very appreciated.

A school shooting occurred in Decatur, GA (eastern suburb in Atlanta). Fortunately there were no injuries.
The gunman was a white male (20s) carrying a AK-47, he's in police custody now.
