Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: October 06, 2013, 11:59:44 AM »
While channel surfing, I noticed Comcast has programming from 5am-5pm labeled as "Tropical Storm Karen Coverage". I doubt they'll stay on that long now that Karen ceases to exist.

EDIT: Actually they have the block labeled as such until 2am.

Programming and Graphics / Re: New Graphics coming to TWC

^Surprisingly...I like it. I approve.

Eventhough this is like 5 years late imo, it would have been nice to have seen a concept like this when they first went HD.

EDIT: Plus, that's probably exactly how I would have designed it if I was apart of their Graphical Design department so I give them bonus points for that. :P I really like the simplicity of it compared to some of the fancy stuff they did with the IS2, which is not a problem, but simplicity is great sometimes too if you do it right.

EDIT #2: Sorry, I thought about something else, is this going to replace the existing STARs (IS, XL, 4000)? :dunno:

Emulator Videos / Re: Weatherlover's Emulations
« on: October 04, 2013, 11:33:36 PM »
NOTE: This emulation was VERY last minute which is why the regional maps/radar is unavailable, I didn't have enough time to draw & composite them into After Effects.

Rapid City was not my first choice for this emulation, however it turned out to be the most interesting. So far the area has seen numerous observations of thundersnow, 1+ inch per hour snowfall rates, nearing 2 feet of snow (which if it happens and it looks like it will, is a new record(s). In addition to being just shy of hurricane force wind gusts (70 mph; hurricane force is 74mph or greater)

Song: "Blizzard Song" or also known as "A New Day" by Trammell Starks

I just see a black screen with the LDL running...anyone else?

Yeah, except I see it over commercials.

As much as i want to call it a publicity stunt they must know alot more than the average viewer who complains about it to do the names for a 2nd year in a row. i say give it time and it will become a staple like the current Hurricane names we are used to every year.

It might become a permanent staple for TWC, but I doubt it'll ever go beyond them into adaptation.

I was puzzled as to why Hurricane Watches were out for part of the Gulf Coast until I found out Karen was a 60mph TS.

This ought to be a fun weekend here with Karen, it'll be the first named tropical system this season to affect us.

EDIT: Plus it'll be fun to hear one of our local mets Karen Minton talk about a potential T.S turned hurricane named after her. :P

Winter Storm Atlas has been named earlier today.

At this rate, we're going to run out of names before winter even begins...

I was hoping TWC would not name winter storms again, but I guess not.  Obviously it's a big publicity stunt.

Meh, I don't think it's really a publicity stunt anymore. They're obviously very serious about this whole naming scheme thing.

A year later, I'm still not for it, but so far it's been harmless. It's just a cutesy way of communicating storms to people to keep track of.

I'm glad I found those .gif images I put into my signature imp. Two great characters, two great shows, well one of the two is still a great show imp.

General Weather Chat / Re: What's the weather in your area?

68°F Clear

The remainder of this week is gonna be HOT for October standards, but at least not as bad as it was in October 2010 when it was as warm as the mid to upper 80s during that month/year. :o

Invest 97L seems interesting, it could be a big rainmaker for parts of the Southeast this weekend into next week.

I kinda hope it brings some decent rain, I always worry when we start to go through a dry spell for too long...

Gemini huh? My niece is a Gemini. If her personality is any indication, Gemini will be a very fun, interesting, and wild winter storm to follow. :P

Also Quintus is about as close as I'll get to having my name as a storm, it's very similar to my middle name. (if you add in an a,v, and o after the "t" it actually is my middle name.)
