Just a head's up that many media outlets around the country will be covering Michael Jackson's memorial on live TV Tuesday.

I am having trouble contemplating why Alpena, MI has Intellistar in my pants.

Maybe the cable provider for that area didn't want to pay to keep an XL imp, the XL is the most expensive STAR Unit still in use today imp. IntelliStar units are much cheaper imp.

I finally captured a recording of Dave doing his weather forecast on the air during the 6:30pm newscast 30 minutes ago. I'll try to put it up tonight or tomorrow.

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Central 2009
« on: July 05, 2009, 06:45:27 AM »
I was in Tampa for Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne back in 2004 which luckily was only a category 1 or 2 when it got to my place.

I was affected by both of those Hurricanes, Frances brought a lot of heavy rain and flooding, it was only a depression when it came up into GA, but Jeanne was worse and was a stong tropical storm, it brought a lot of heavy winds and rain, I hated having to walk to school in that, but I just wasn't able to pull off being "sick" that time. :P Hurricane Ivan was the worse for me that year, it was so bad we even had lightning and thunder off and on the day it arrived! Our basement flooded and our backyard looked like a swamp.

05-Katrina comes to mind
Dennis was the big one. We did feel Katrina, but Dennis directly affected our area.

It's still amazing to this day how Katrina went from a cat 1 hurricane to a cat 5 in the GOM in a short period of time before weakening. Florida really got spared by that monster.

Local Forecast / Re: July 2009 Official Playlist
« on: July 04, 2009, 04:03:48 PM »
I'm confused. I thought there was going to be no more jazz? Yet the playlist has quite a bit of jazz (and newage)?

There was no mention of Smooth Jazz being permantly removed from the playlist, it was the addition of soft rock that was supposed to decrease the amount of smooth jazz used in the playlist though.

I think the whole East Coast is at risk for a major hurricane sometime, when, I don't know.

Local Forecast / Re: Jazz is Gone
« on: July 04, 2009, 01:02:37 PM »
Smooth jazz had to have been popular if they released those CD's. I seriously doubt they released them just for TWC Today members, nor do I think smooth jazz suddenly got unpopular on TWC within less than a year's time.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing Smooth Jazz can suffer that badly in just a few months. Even the sudden 80% satisfaction rate is a little puzzling. Some of the soft rock songs played from last month and this month like "Gut Feeling" by Devo and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd have played before, if people were requesting for these changes or more of these sock rock songs shouldn't they have been done years ago well before now?

Kinda changing the subject, but I thought this qoute on NBC's managment over TWC was interesting, sounds like it was a trap to make sure TWC didn't try buying themselves out of NBC.

Quote
“They paid a healthy price for the Weather Channel, a very healthy price in hindsight … the more entrenched the Weather Channel is for GE, the more challenging it is for an exit strategy for the private equity firms,” said Alan Gould , an analyst with Natixis Bleichroeder.
