And before you say anything Tavores, I live in the south.  Winter should be done here! :P

Actually I would have told you since you live in the South, you're lucky to even have a Winter. Your winter should have been gone after Groundhog Day.

13°F Sunny, feels like 3°F

I thought everything was all said and done with snow, but now we're supposed to get another snow/ice event on Monday.  :wall: :wall: :wall:

You live in the Northeast, you know Winter ain't done with you yet. You gotta wait until at least April.

I like the current set of icons better.

WN has a long way to go to be considered good imp. Their on air talent/personalities are lacking. It's a little uncomfortable to watch.

Accuweather is the only competition TWC needs to be worried about as far as I see it...

There's plenty of local mets weather presenters here and around the country that don't have a meteorological degree. As long you know how to read a teleprompter, point accurately at the map, have good charm and charisma  you can work as a "on air meteorologist". I personally don't like that. I think if you're going to work in a certain profession, it would be nice if you knew the ins and outs of it. Then again when you work in the broadcasting field, it makes sense why stations don't give a rat's red butt if you have a degree or not because you're considered talent anyway, like an actor I guess.

I remember hearing the warning tone once back in December during a severe weather outbreak.

TWC aired an Ad of this program today and it confirmed that Mike Bettes and Maria LaRosa will stay and contribute to the new program.

I don't know why, but I feel like Mike Bettes would only be an unfortunate third wheel on Champion's show. I hope not, but we'll see.

If it makes you feel any better I wouldn't trust those CPC maps anymore than I can throw them. They change just as frequently as any typical computer model run will.

Here's an interesting article from Accuweather talking about the return of arctic blasts by next week. What jumped out at me was the mentioning of a Sudden Stratospheric Warming, I wasn't aware there was one earlier this month. They think the brunt of the arctic air will be aimed towards the Midwest/Southeast/Northeast regions.

EDIT: Also I like to wait until April before I feel ok to enjoy warm weather like this today because March is known for being a transitional and violate month. There have been March's in the past that were notorious for snow/ice here just as well as DJF are. (ex: 1960, 1980, 1983, 1993, 2009, 2010) those are just the years I know off the top of my head, there's probably more.

This makes me sad. :(  I was enjoying the warmer temperatures.

You drank too much of that Spring Fever flavored Kool Aid didn't you? It's still February, you didn't honestly think Spring was here for good already did you?

Speaking of Spring Fever, were gonna be awfully close to a record high tomorrow, but I think we'll fall short of tying or breaking it. The record is 78 set back in 1986.

Been meaning to post this sooner, but here's an event summary page from the NWS Peachtree City, GA on how this storm evolved over a three day period. The title alone sums it up nicely: One For The History Books

Winter Weather / Re: Winter Storm Pax - February 10-13, 2014

The HRRR has been hands down the best computer model to use this winter here. It has been perfect in every storm here this winter and it scored a coup this time around. It was the only model to show 10"+ here last night while most models had 4-8". Ended up with 11.5". Now the HRRR wants to dump another 12" over NYC in a deformation band as the closed H5 low passes over to the east. We'll see if it continues to dominate.

The HRRR did ok here, it was wrong about was there being a transition to heavy snow near the onset of the storm, it was heavy sleet instead. Thank god it changed over from freezing rain when it did it saved us from a terrible icestorm. I got very nervous and worried when I saw it already accumulating on the power lines within just a few hours of starting, I can only imagine what another 12 hours of that crap would have done.

Also the global models went a bit overboard on the ice potential here, but the NAM was definitely one of if not the worst overall. It kept insisting we were gonna get 1-2 inches of ice here. What the heck was it smokin'?
