Emulator Videos / Re: SnowManiac's Emulations
« on: February 28, 2010, 06:30:06 PM »
Thanks for the positive feedback Aaron and Molly, but I actually didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Since it is a powerpoint file all I had to do was change them from XL icons to the 4000 icons and tweak the sizes because they did come up more larger than the XL ones. I always wondered what that version of the XL would be like if it had the 4000 icons to start off so it was another one of my random ideas.  :P

I hope you all realized that I warned you about this winter being wacky due to El Niņo conditions.  Everything has certainly been active, but it doesn't really surprise me.  There's nothing we can do now except deal with it.

I'm used to it and can deal with El Nino over La Nina. I rather have buckets of rain and snow than to go another 3 years dry as a bone desperately waiting for some kind of precip to fall on us, but that's just me. Georgia, Alabama and Florida are already in a water war because of what the previous La Nina did to our region.

This is beyond appalling. There is absolutely no reason to decommission the 4000... not one. It is able to produce a warning tone, which if most recall, was the reason the 3000 was done away with. The problem here is that I have never been able to get a video of it. I know I remember seeing the 4000 in the thumb back before 2005, and at the time, I thought it was really primitive compared to the Intellistar (this was years before I understood the differences). I have tried a couple times to go find a 4000. I tried going to Yale (east side of the state) last April, but I ended up going to Houghton Lake. I tried going to Metropolis IL (north side of Paducah KY) last June, but the trip never materialized. I also wanted to go to Newberry (up in the UP) since due to its size and the fact that it has its own headend, I had thought it might have the 4000. But, the area is too small, and most every hotel/motel up there has satellite.

Bottom line, I am just ashamed that my chance has gone out the window. I will never have a chance to record it for myself. Those users here who have recorded it should feel quite lucky right now.

I think the article is fake Aaron, if you read the last part of it, it says TWC will have no STARS from the 20th century left and that's not true, the XL came out in 1999, so technically it came out in the 20th century. Also there are other things in that article that sounds suspect, I wouldn't see a reason for the FCC to remove it because it's low-tech.

Even the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is supposed to get some possible snowfall on Tuesday, again. But, as of now, there is not a real great chance (although, that's what they said about last week's storm). :wall: I'm tired of the snow, though. :( I wouldn't last in the NE in winter time. :P
You wouldn't have fun in the Northeast right now as there are areas that will pick up a total of two feet or more of snow during this week.  This winter has been more active than many that I can remember in recent history.  Do you all think so, too?

Most definitely, I MIGHT even see another significant snowstorm to start March off next week.

Anyone have an idea what may have happened here?
TWC [HD] Local Forecast- 2/17/10 Local Forecast Blooper

What I take from this is:
1) It is a pre-recorded segment, that was mistakenly aired instead of the LF music. I believe this because if you'll notice, the person talking gets cut off by a live shot with Kim Perez.
2) I believe it is Mike Bettes talking... but wow, some of the things he says :P

I don't know for sure who it is talking or who he is talking to, nor do I know if this also occurred for the SD viewers.

That's definitely Mike Bettes. I wonder who he was talking about when he said "When you're young and dumb you'll do just about anything."

This reminds me of the two videos I saw of Vivian Brown and Jennetta Jones of the same error.

Thanks Mike and Aaron for explaining it to me, it's pretty rare for me to not hear CC narration so I thought it was odd not to hear it at all during that time when WN was on.

Is the CC narration on the IntelliStar disabled during the LF that comes on at :48 during Weekend Now?  :dunno:
