Severe Weather / Re: Severe Weather 2014
« on: June 05, 2014, 06:56:35 PM »
I'm under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch along with a moderate risk for severe weather this evening. The derecho looks like it's falling apart, but a new line of storms seems to be developing now. I suppose it's a new derecho or MCS developing. :dunno:

Want something done about the dead space on the right side of the IS2? Here's a possible solution. The LDL isn't perfect I just threw some information up there to make it look fancy. :P

Local Forecast / Re: 4000/XL/Jr. - The End Is Near
« on: June 04, 2014, 03:37:15 PM »
Nostalgia's all good and everything, but why is everyone crying over computers that are over 20 years old?  As much as I miss TWC's glory days, I'd be extremely upset if I woke up in the morning to find out that my cable operator's downgraded to anything less than an IntelliStar.  I like to look at up-to-date graphics generated by a modern-generation computer.

This is just my opinion, but if the XL hypothetically would have had the same hardware as the IS, they could have made a few minor adjustments (graphics wise and layout wise) to get it to match the current IS layout. The current version of the XL is not that much different graphically from the current version of the XL if you ask me. It's not like jumping as you said from the IS to a 4000 or JR.

I honestly think this entire thing is a hoax. No one gave any documents or elaborated on it so we're making this assumption blindly based off of peoples words. My XL is still running with analog data...

Can anyone release any documentation on this to prove this claim? It's all based on peoples words which are appearing not to hold up to their words... If that makes sense. Not meaning to sound harsh but really guys. We've been told this multiple times before and it never happened...

I don't really see any reason to think this is a hoax, it's already been happening and ongoing as per members here reporting the upgrades. Maybe not as fast as what was previously expected, but it's obviously happening.

General Discussion / Re: YouTube subscriptions
« on: May 31, 2014, 09:43:05 PM »
For those of you that use YouTube, they have once again screwed up the subscriptions area! Now it shows all recent videos (whether you've watched them or not), and there's no way to remove them from the list. I also noticed this morning that all, but one of my subscriptions were gone (so I had to remember which channels they were and re-subscribe)! I don't really mind all the changes they make, but I really don't understand why it's so difficult for them to make this area work properly. :censored:

This problem is very annoying to me. <_<

2 1/2 months later and the problem is 1000x worse than before. I probably have about 100 videos from people I'm subbed to that's just been backbuilding up all week because I can't remove any of the videos I've watched already.

I didn't even know it was this bad until yesterday, there's no option to remove videos from your sub feed anymore. The All Activity tab is broken as well. It's so bad I'm just not going to bother watching anything in the subs feed until this is fixed because I can't keep track of what I have or haven't watched. Thank you Google for the further f :censored: k up of YouTube. I really appreciate it. SMH

Everything Else TWC / Re: The Weather Channel updates weather.com

Much better than what they had previously if you ask me. The layout looks cleaner. I take it they're trying to match the website to the on air graphics which makes sense.

Interesting that the IS1 & IS2 LF have the patriotic theme background yet the National LF does not have that today. Unless they are waiting for Monday?

Looks like you were right btw.

Something must of been wrong with the IS unit for Atlanta because were getting the feed from Marietta instead. This is the second time in 6 months this has happened.

It actually brings me to my next question: Don't major airports around the country have their own IntelliStar units? Shouldn't Atlanta's back up IntelliStar unit be coming from Hartsfield Int'l Airport instead of Marietta, GA which is well over an hour away from where I live? It used to years ago (pre 2008).

I don't know what's wrong with the SD feed here, but all I'm seeing is a black screen with the LDL overlayed on top of it. The HD feed is fine though.

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Central 2014
« on: May 22, 2014, 12:47:15 PM »
Maybe they have always done this and I never paid much attention to it before, but why is the range for predicted named storms below and above average? That doesn't make any sense, seems like they're trying to have it both ways. Also the named storms this year is practically a carbon copy of 2008 tic for tac. Only Ike, Gustav and Paloma were retired and replaced.

There are some memorable names on this list though: Dolly, Fay, Hanna, Marco (Polo). I'll never forget Marco because of how it was super tiny!

NOTE: Yes, I looked at the pie chart, but still...I would think the range would have been 8-11, not 8-13.

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: General IS2 Discussion
« on: May 20, 2014, 03:41:56 PM »
I guess someday it will bleed it's way down here. It's not like it's been out nearly 4 years or anything.

At this point it doesn't really matter, the version, graphically I wanted to see in person is long gone and even if it wasn't it would be butchered because it would only play the same preselected tired out forecast products like the IS does.

On the upside, having a LF in HD regardless of what it looks like would be fine with me. I'm really sick and tired of seeing the national feed on the HD channel especially since I rather watch most channels (including TWC) in HD.
