General Discussion / Re: 5 Years of the TWC Logo
« on: August 13, 2010, 05:18:02 PM »
August 15, 2005 (Sunday this year) is the official day of the relaunch of the logo/network. I remember because that was the same day of the first day of 7th grade for me and coming home to see a new logo, IntelliStar graphically upgraded all I was thinking was WTF? Why did they change the logo to something so dull and boring as a blue box? I obviously hated it then, but it has since grown on me a lot since.

remember when the istar had minor narration in 04 with allen? thats what jim sounds like now in the beta.

Allen's voice did sound more deeper and robotic when the IS debuted than it does now.

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / IntelliStar Glitch on Unit #22204

Hello STAR Team ,

This morning I noticed a few things wrong with my unit, The first thing I noticed was that TWC logo was missing from the blue LDL,the template to the Almanac was missing (that has been fixed since I got back from school) and the icons reversed back to the old IntelliStar icon set including on the big LDL during PM Edition right now. I was also getting the national LDL from this morning up until PM Edition came on when I got back home I posted pictures below to show what I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance! :)

Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Depression Five

I think it would be amazing if this thing could pull off a Humberto, but I know it won't though. I could care less if it's a depression, storm, or hurricane. I want it to take that sharp turn right and bring us some needed rain and relief. With La Nina coming back it won't be too long before the "D" word comes back into play. :fear:

Which "D" word are you talking about. :o :P

Drought, we went through an extremely severe three year drought that ended last year because of La Nina.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: New OCM- Bryan Norcross
« on: August 11, 2010, 03:48:02 PM »
Why does TWC need a hurricane "expert" AND a hurricane "specialist"? What is the difference between the two? Bryan was on WC tonight giving an update, but what he did was something Dr. Knabb could easily do, too.
Not a new concept for TWC.  They had John Hope and Steve Lyons.

Two is (sometimes) better than one.  From the way it sounds, this Bryan Norcross sounds great, and Dr. Knabb is also.

I didn't realize that John Hope and Steve Lyons ever worked at the same time. I guess this isn't new, then.

IIRC, I think Dr. Lyons was hired to be John Hope's successor once Hope left, but yes they did work together from the late 90's to early 00's when Hope died.

She's still not my favorite, but I'll take her over Todd Santos any day of the week. Also she's filling in for Nicole tonight on WC.

I'm surprised noone has started a thread on this since it's right in our backyard, but the disturbance near FL has a 40% chance of becoming our Danielle unless the disturbance in the Central Atlantic beats it to the punch first, but nonetheless I think this will either be our Danielle or Earl over the next couple of days.

Quote
A WEAK LOW PRESSURE AREA OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO...JUST
OFFSHORE OF THE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA COAST...CONTINUES TO PRODUCE A
LARGE AREA OF DISORGANIZED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE
NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS...THE SOUTHERN FLORIDA PENINSULA AND FLORIDA
STRAITS...CUBA...AND THE SOUTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO.  UPPER-LEVEL
WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BECOME A LITTLE MORE CONDUCIVE FOR
DEVELOPMENT OF THIS LOW OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS THE SYSTEM
MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 5 TO 10 MPH. THERE IS A MEDIUM CHANCE...
40 PERCENT...OF THIS SYSTEM BECOMING A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL
CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

The 18z DGEX is very aggressive with this disturbance blowing up in the GOM with a pressure of at least 980mbs! It wants to create a moderately strong Cat 1 hurricane!

Right now, they are airing an old version of "Surviving The Elements: Hurricane". They are talking about what would happen if a Category 4 hit New Orleans. They are having to put a Lower Third saying "This show was completed before Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast." I find that hilarious.

Why not just film a new episode? They are using the old L3RDs, which the ad covers up half of the person's name anyway.

The same thing happened from an episode of It Could Happen Tomorrow that was about the same thing it aired a few months before Katrina hit and didn't air again until years later. It was deemed the lost episode of that show.

I have not heard the Herb Alpert, Jill Switzer or Dreams of Ibiza by BIckley Rivera either

I've heard and recorded "Dreams of Ibiza", but only a 90 sec. cut of it.

You guys might remember that I posted an episode of one of my scripted stories here that was based on TWC fan fiction. Well here's a recent episode I been working on the past few weeks called "High Anxiety".

Synopsis: Jason and Melody are preparing to take a statewide test that will determine whether or not they can be promoted to high school or not, Dean and Ana are taking the pre-test which mounts the pressure on when they have Jason help tutor them. Meanwhile Daniel is having problems facing his physiological fear of riding a bike until Kara offers to train him before a company Bike-A-Thon he suggested to his boss Mr. Beamington.
