Weatherscan Discussion / Re: Weatherscan Topic
« on: September 21, 2010, 08:24:52 PM »
Turned on WxScan this afternoon to find this

EDIT: Video of reboot process
Memphis Weatherscan - Reboot Process - September 18, 2010
Why is your Weatherscan still using the old icons?

Never mind…I answered my own question by watching the video. The spinning IntelliStar logo is just mesmerizing. I like the song that was playing.

It was an error. They were showing the new icons, but just recently they started showing the '06-'10 set.
I know this question may seem dumb, but is it possible for Weatherscan to go back to the cheeseball (1998-2006) icons when it has an error?

If it wasn't a new set this year, probably so, but I doubt it would now that there's this new icon set, it'll most likely do what it did in that video and revert to the 2006-2010 icon set.

Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Storm Lisa
« on: September 21, 2010, 05:45:26 PM »
Tropical Storm Lisa is strengthening with winds of 45 mph now, and NHC believes it could become a hurricane over the next few days.  It'll slowly drift northward then westward over the forecast period as it's just south of a big high, which is why the steering currents are so weak aloft.

Thanks for explaining that, I was curious as to why Lisa was moving so erratic now and further down the road.

It might become Matthew in the near future.
We'll see what happens, Matthew.  Maybe it will be yours soon. ;)  I've never had a storm named for me, and mine is just as common as yours.

That's because the NHC uses stupid names like "Igor" for instance. I mean really, how many people do you know with that name? They might as well used my name, I know more people who have the same first name as me than I ever will someone with Igor.

Are these production tracks available for use? I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with this list and what is currently being discussed. Like what does VH 33.0 mean?
It's the CD number, VideoHelper has put out numerous production music CDs....the 33 means it is disc #33, etc..

Thanks for the clarification. Now can someone identify VH 33.0 #48. I KNOW this is used on TWC somewhere; isn't it the new WN opener music?

Your correct, it is.

Although in fantasyland, Tampa, it could happen on October 5, 2010 with a possible Cat 3/4 hurricane. :fear:

Tuesday Afternoon, October 5, 2010 (956 mb)

Tuesday Night, October 5, 2010 (960 mb)

Wednesday Morning, October 6, 2010 (968 mb)

Wednesday Afternoon, October 6, 2010 (981 mb)

As a bonus, what I believe will be "Matthew" here is hell of a big storm in it's peak strength.

Another decent wave exiting the African coast too!

Did somebody build a huge brick wall out in the Central Atlantic and were not aware of it?  :P

Amazing New Designs For The Dollar Bill
http://news.yahoo.com/s/huffpost/721294

Wow! :o This is interesting. I highly doubt this will happen (especially since the "dollar" is known to be green), but some of the designs are pretty neat.

I think they should consider it, I think it would be more modernized if dollar bills looked like some of those designs.

This is what the Old Farmer's Almanac is saying for the Southeast (GA/SC/NC) somewhat different from what the Farmer's Almanac is saying. If you want to see what it says for your area, click on the link below. What's kinda funny about the snowfall forecast is that we always see measurable snow from between the 15th to the 20th of January. This year was an exception when it fell on the 7th.

Quote
Annual Weather Summary: November 2010 to October 2011
Winter will be colder than normal, with below-normal precipitation and near- to above-normal snowfall. The coldest periods will be in January, especially the mid- to late part of the month, and mid- and late February. The snowiest periods will be in mid- to late January.

April and May will be cooler than normal, with rainfall slightly below normal in the north and above normal in the south.

Summer will be cooler than normal, with rainfall below normal in the north and slightly above normal in the south. The hottest temperatures will be in early July and mid-August. Expect a hurricane in the second week of June.

September and October will be cooler and drier than normal

I am so sick of hearing that song now.  <_<
