Do you guys think Matthew will still restrengthen when it enters the Gulf of Mexico? Models on wunderground still suggest the storm will take a turn northward and possibly impact the eastern seaboard. I hope this happens, because we need that moisture.

It's certainly possible , but it doesn't need to mingle over Central America too long if it plans to.

UPDATE: As of the 5 PM EDT projected paths, Matthew will not only be dying out by the new week, it will also NO LONGER be making the sharp turn northward. The model tracks on weather.com have some crazy paths for Matthew; I think each track has a completely different track for this storm. However, except for the [not likely] chance that Matthew will make a 180 degree turn back out to the Caribbean, the US needs no longer to worry about Matthew.

Not too surprising, it's been moving due west longer than it should have been compared to this time yesterday. Matthew had to punk out on us, many places in the South and Northeast could have used that much needed rainfall, shame on you Matthew, shame on you.  :nono: :P

Programming and Graphics / Re: New Schedule

The weekday format didn't bother me that much, it was the weekend format that drove me up the wall with the strings of pointless long form programming regardless of whether or not weather doesn't happen on the weekends according to TWC.  :P It's nice to see they added a little more live programming for the weekend and I gotta agree with Andy about the 2-5pm edition of DP, that should be PM edition, it's gonna be the same hosts anyway, it'll just be on 2 hours earlier.

I'm very interested in seeing this one develop over the next week, it's 5 day track is even more interesting because it moves NW then takes a sharp turn NE brushing Belize. At the end, Tropical Storm or Hurricane I hope what the 00z run of the GFS showed last night is true and TD 15 rides up north through GA we need that rain, we might not have much opportunities to get a lot of rain if it's dry this winter.

Why does my calendar say the first day of fall is tomorrow?

I just looked online...fall doesn't officially start until 11:09 ET.

The 23rd would be the first full 24 hr. day of the autumnal equinox. What makes 2010 different is that a full moon will coincide with it. First time since 1991.

Tonight will also be when Jupiter is very close to Earth, the closest it has been in 59 years.

I don't know why, but i think our ABC affiliate local news will be expanded to 4-7pm to fill in that 4pm hour Oprah is gone. They did that years ago when they expanded to a full hour at noon to take up for the cancellation of a soap opera (Port Charles i think it was) and recently they expanded the news 30 mins. from 5-7am to 4:30-7am.
Quite a few stations are expanding their broadcast hours. Its all a race for ratings, views and money. If you are the first station to start earlier you will get a hike in viewers and some of the those viewers will keep watching boosting ratings. Its also a clever way to manipulate the ratings so that you can advertise your newscast as being #1. Notice how sometimes on your DVR newscasts are named differently or start at odd times (ie 5:35)? It has to do with this

That's the reason I thought this could happen because our CBS affiliate has been on at 4pm since Ellen moved to 5pm a few years ago, but now that Ellen moved to our NBC affiliate, Guiding Light and As the World Turns was canned they expanded from 4-5pm to 4-6pm surely to bring in ratings and compete with our strongest affiliates ABC and FOX. Our NBC affiliate....Meh, I don't know what they're doing. They keep talking about "Bringing News That Matters" and "Reoprting More Positive News" and all that crap, but they are showing news the least out of all 4 of them, it's like they're trying to be dead last in ratings.  :P

Although in fantasyland, Tampa, it could happen on October 5, 2010 with a possible Cat 3/4 hurricane. :fear:

Thats 95L if it ever develops. I believe the GFS is full of BS

I don't think that's true, GFS has been doing a good job at sniffing out storms in the long range, it's just the track and intensity that's usually BS.  :P Also 18z run still is showing a FL hit near Tampa, but weaker around 975mb

Well hopefully when Oprah is discontinued next year, they can put Millionaire at 4pm.
Oh I highly doubt that. The networks aren't going to risk loosing that huge talk show audience by playing a game show in its place. You can almost certainly bet on seeing some other similar type of talk show in its place
Exactly.  In many places, Oprah is the lead-in to the evening news, which might be a bad thing come next year.  The local NBC afilliate ("Number 1 station") airs Oprah at 3PM, and people stay to watch Jeopardy at 4, and then a local talk show airs at 4:30 leading into the 5PM news.  So, I agree with Martin that stations are going to try to get another talk show for the time slot.

Current Conditions update
Wow, this is pretty great, Are you still using MS PP to make these? If so, you're really stretching this program to it's limits.  :P Also I would pull the text where Partly Cloudy is down some so it's not right up under the icon because if you were using a rain or snow icon, the rain or snow would be covering the text.

Going with this style instead of the one above.

I kinda like the first one better, but this one is pretty good too.

Birthday cake mix, birthday candles, frosting, a candle shaped as a number 3 and a Kai-Lan plushy doll.

...it's my niece's 3rd birthday. *sniff sniff* she's growing up too fast.

I know what you mean, my niece just turned 4 back in June this year, time really does fly by.
