General Discussion / Re: Election Day Discussion & Coverage

I don't turn 18 until the 20th, and I wish I could vote in the South Carolina governer's race. The battle Jim DeMint and the no-name, no-political background Democrat? Well, you can probably guess who's winning that one.

I think it would be pretty funny if he actually won
Funny? Really?

I don't know about you, but I certainly don't want that kind of power in the hands of someone that's crazy. :o

I wouldn't either, but he shouldn't have been allowed to run in the first place.

Something I whipped up today, and I'll work on some more tonight. This is just the CC screen.

Hopefully after the video finishes being processed, the beginning will fix itself.

I really like what you got so far!

I wish I could vote because this midterm election is very important especially our governor race between Roy Barnes (D) and Nathan Deal (R) it's pretty close, close enough to be a run off if Deal doesn't get the 50% or higher percentage to win (God I hope he doesn't) but unfortunately I'm about 22 days too late, I don't turn 18 until the 24th.  :(

I forgot to mention the race for Attorney General Ken Hodges (D) and Sam Olens (R) iirc is getting tight, the race for Lt. Governor of GA I'm not sure how it's looking right now, but I think the democrat nominee Carol Porter might beat her Republican opponent Casey Cagle who's up for reelection. Maybe it's just me, but there is some serious overkill with all the republican candidates ads here, I hardly see any from democrats except for those running for gov. and attorney general. I saw an ad from a republican candidate running for agricultural commissioner, I didn't know such a thing existed.

Everything Else TWC / Re: TWC Getting Back Into Weather?

I agree, big corprations are evil.
Thats not a fair statement. There are plenty of good big corporations/companies
But NBC is evil.
That works :P
Look, I agree that not all big corperations are evil, I just think NBC is since they ruined TWC.
NBC didnt ruin all of TWC.. yes they put Al Roker on it but is it NBCs on what segments they air and how the schedule is arranged?

Yeah, to be fair, TWC were ruining themselves before NBC got to them. They were responsible for starting things like propagandizing Global Warming by slamming it in our faces every chance they got when Dr. Heidi Cullen was there pre-NBC. (Not to say that Global Warming is real or fake, but I didn't like to have to constantly hear about how driving like 5 miles to a Mc Donalds will mean losing thousands of ice caps in the arctic.)

Anyone know if TWC is going to do a Halloween playlist today like they did last Halloween or was that a one time thing?

The Old Farmer's Almanac seems to be more on point than the new one, I noticed the new Farmer's Almanac has been off base a lot this month, the old one has been fairly accurate with how October has played out, maybe their prediction of a Cold and Dry winter will hold up...

NOVEMBER 2010: temperature 54 ° (1 ° below avg.); precipitation 1.5" (1.5" below avg.); Nov 1-2: Sunny, warm; Nov 3-6: Showers, cool

^ That is pretty much what everyone is forecasting the first week of November.

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Tomas

Tomas is now the 12th hurricane of this season with winds of 75 mph as of 11 AM EDT.  Did anyone here expect to see two Atlantic hurricanes simultaneously in late October?

If I didn't think La Nina played a factor in this, then no I wouldn't.

TROPICAL STORM TOMAS DISCUSSION NUMBER   1
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL   AL212010
500 PM AST FRI OCT 29 2010

AN AIR FORCE RESERVE RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT INVESTIGATING THE
VIGOROUS TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED SOUTHEAST OF THE WINDWARD ISLANDS
FOUND A CLOSED SURFACE CIRCULATION...ALONG WITH FLIGHT-LEVEL WINDS
AND UNCONTAMINATED SFMR SURFACE WINDS THAT SUPPORT A 35-KT TROPICAL
STORM. AS A RESULT...ADVISORIES HAVE BEEN INITIATED ON TROPICAL
STORM TOMAS...THE NINETEENTH NAMED STORM OF THE 2010 SEASON.

THE INITIAL MOTION IS AN UNCERTAIN 295/15...DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY
OF REFORMATION OF THE LOW-LEVEL CENTER WITHIN THE CENTRAL DEEP
CONVECTION. TOMAS IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE MOVING WEST-NORTHWESTWARD
FOR THE NEXT 48 HOURS...PASSING THROUGH THE WINDWARD ISLANDS IN
ABOUT 24 HOURS OR SO. AFTER THAT...THE BROAD TROUGH THAT IS LOCATED
OFF THE U.S. EAST COAST AND THE BAHAMAS IS FORECAST TO LIFT OUT TO
THE NORTHEAST...WHICH ALLOWS A RIDGE TO BUILD TO THE NORTH OF TOMAS
ACROSS THE GREATER ANTILLES...THE BAHAMAS...AND FLORIDA. THE
EASTERLY FLOW ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE RIDGE SHOULD FORCE TOMAS ON
MORE OF A WESTERLY TRACK THROUGH 96 HOURS. BY DAY 5...A SECOND MUCH
DEEPER TROUGH IS EXPECTED TO DIG SOUTHWARD INTO THE SOUTHERN PLAINS
AND SOUTHEASTERN U.S. AND CAUSE THE RIDGE AND ASSOCIATED STEERING
CURRENTS TO WEAKEN. THE RESULT SHOULD BE A SHARP DECREASE IN
FORWARD SPEED BY 120 HOURS. THE NHC MODEL GUIDANCE IS IN GOOD
AGREEMENT ON THIS DEVELOPING SCENARIO...EXCEPT FOR THE GFDL AND
HWRF MODELS...WHICH ARE CONSIDERED TO BE OUTLIERS AT THIS TIME.
THE OFFICIAL FORECAST TRACK IS ALONG THE SOUTHERN EDGE OF THE
GUIDANCE ENVELOPE...BUT NOT AS FAR SOUTH AND WEST AS THE GFS...
ECMWF...AND UKMET MODELS...WHICH ARE DEPICTING A MUCH WEAKER AND
SMALLER TROPICAL CYCLONE THAN IS EXPECTED.

RECON AND SATELLITE DATA INDICATE THE LOW-LEVEL AND UPPER-LEVEL
CIRCULATIONS ARE NOT YET VERTICALLY ALIGNED...WHICH SHOULD RESULT
IN ONLY SLOW INTENSIFICATION IN THE NEAR TERM. HOWEVER...WITH A
CENTRAL PRESSURE OF 998 MB...VERY MOIST MID-LEVELS...AND LOW
VERTICAL SHEAR...IT WOULD NOT TAKE MUCH FOR TOMAS TO INTENSIFY AT A
FASTER THAN NORMAL RATE. WHILE NOT EXPLICITLY INDICATING RAPID
INTENSIFICATION...THE OFFICIAL INTENSITY FORECAST REFLECTS THESE
FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS...AND

A possible Gulf threat maybe...? Anyways it shouldn't have taken this long to be named it was pretty obvious it was already a tropical storm yesterday just from the way it looked on satellite.

I thought I would share this with you guys, the "25 Hottest Weather Babes"

http://2dorks.com/gallery/2010/1027-weatherbabes/index.shtml

Alex really? I don't really agree with that, but ok. It was interesting to see Dagmar Midcap on there at #4 since a couple of years ago she was voted the #1 Hottest Weatherbabe of Atlanta. They even put a billboard up about it.

W.T.F. http://gayrights.change.org/blog/view/arkansas_school_board_member_says_gay_students_should_get_aids_and_die

This is a disturbing article. What a no-good :censored: piece of :censored: this guy is...I hope he is fired from his job.

The name of the article says enough, what an ignorant and incredibly stupid thing to say. The fact that he was bold and moronic enough to post those comments on FB is even more despicable. I even noticed another article on the right said he "might" keep his job. WTF? Are they really gonna keep someone like that in a position over state schools?

« on: October 27, 2010, 06:18:33 PM »
So lets get this straight.... TWC spent thousands on revamping part of the studio, getting fancy gizmos, running promos, designing snazzy graphics packages for a show that never aired. Nice

Yeah, that's the basics. They spent useless money on that, which is sad, though.

Old habits die hard I guess, it's no wonder they have to keep letting good senior OCMs go to hire cheaper new ones.  :P
