General Discussion / Re: Observation in GEICO commercial
« on: January 18, 2011, 07:47:27 PM »
I noticed that when I saw this for the first time on TV, but I didn't think much of it then probably because the font was way different than TWC logo.

EDIT: BTW, I would like to add I thought that was such a stupid commercial.

Cheryl Lemke was doing some field reporting in the heavy snow/sleet last week. I tried to upload this last week, but my wireless connection kept randomly dropping out. Since I got my router yesterday, I didn't have that problem today. It's not a long report, but I thought it was interesting to see her do some reporting outside. Not saying that she didn't, but I can't recall a time she did field reporting when she was at TWC, then again I have a fuzzy memory sometimes anyway.  :P

Can somebody in a nutshell explain to me why Comcast has any interest in wanting to have partial ownership of NBC in the first place? :dunno:

General Weather Chat / Re: EC Winter Storm January 22-23?
« on: January 16, 2011, 06:11:08 PM »
If I didn't know any better I would think we were in an El Nino pattern again. This is a very interesting weather pattern were in this winter, the NAO has been so negative (turning slightly positive atm) for so many months keeping that Greenland blocking (deep troughs in the E. CONUS) in place that it's practically made La Nina none existent. December was supposed to be warm and dry here, it was the complete opposite, it was the 5th coldest December on record here. January looks to be following suit so far. I'm gonna look back at previous La Nina winters and see if there's an analog year similar to this one. Could be a lot of fun and games with the weather for the remainder of the winter. I'm still enjoying it!  :)

General Weather Chat / Re: 2010 Ties 2005 For Warmest Year On Record

Chattanooga saw some pretty stunning records in mid-October, when we had 2 or 3 days when the mercury broke the century mark. The local newspapers made a big deal out of it.

It seems like everyone hit the century mark in the South except here, the highest I remember it getting this past summer was 98° like the summer before that, but the duration of the heat into October was what made this past summer heat worst than the one before. We were still seeing mid 90's up until mid October, plus it was so humid.

General Weather Chat / Re: Possible Ice Storm for Western New England
« on: January 16, 2011, 02:49:15 PM »
I have a question.  On Tuesday through Tuesday Night we are supposed to get about a half inch to maybe an inch of ice. Is that enough to close schools, and cause accidents on the roads? Just wondering.

Most definitely, it only takes 1/4 inch of ice to bring down trees and powerlines that's the worst part of it. Anything more than that is just crippling.

I don't think any of the 6.5 inches of snow I got on my side of the street has melted due to the sheet of ice that accumulated on top of it I'm sure acting as a shield from the sunlight, but the same can't be said for the other side of the street virtually all gone and has been for the past couple of days. The sun always kills the snowfall on that side of the street, but on my side it sticks around for a week or longer even if it rains or it gets up into the 50's/60's!

I went through the music clips here to match it seeing Matt IDd the time of it being played and got the match of that  i like it.. I also YT-searched it and saw you used it in your November test clips.. haha :P

They used a bad cut of it though, the one from November '05 was better.

I heard at 1:58pm that was previously used in November 2005.
For reference to others, its Sunlight Dance by Dan Spollen

Really Sunlight Dance?  :thrilled: I always wanted to hear that one again.
