General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch
« on: May 30, 2011, 04:41:02 PM »
It's gonna be anywhere between 97 - 99 degrees Wednesday. YIKES!!
This is outrageously hot weather to start off the first of June. I won't be going outside much this week.
I'm staying in my A/C house.

Architecture theme from Windows 7 - I also moved the Dell dock to the bottom of the screen so it wouldn't be such a nuisance as it was being at the top.

Hurricane Central / Re: Predictions for 2010 Atlantic hurricane season retirements
« on: May 30, 2011, 07:30:17 AM »Honestly I didn't think these storms would be notable enough for retirement. Quite surprising if you ask me.
Not notable to the US, but notable for the Caribbean and Bermuda. A lot of damage and deaths were reported in those areas from them.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Blooper Thread
« on: May 28, 2011, 08:23:04 PM »Poor Maria. That's the worst possible thing that can happen to an on-air person.
We have VIZRT at the station I work at, and it is indeed a piece of crap. Always screwing things up, not communicating with the other machines and making life horrible.
It's bad enough she said it the first time, but to say it again the second time trying to correct herself made it even more funnier.
I liked that video (well not the one posted, it was another one)

General Discussion / Re: Graduations
« on: May 28, 2011, 08:08:18 PM »
Woo! It finally happened, I finally graduated high school today! It was great and very beautiful, but I did the two things I said I was never going to do, get overly anxious/nervous and start to cry. Eventhough I didn't cry technically, I almost did lose it trying to hold back the tears when we started singing. It suddenly started hitting me that this was it, I'm about to move on to a new chapter of my life and I won't see a lot of my friends and classmates anymore.

Severe Weather / Re: Severe Weather Season 2011/Severe Wx thread
« on: May 27, 2011, 04:59:40 PM »Here in the Southeast, though, like here in Alabama, we've needed a break in severe weather, as people are still traumatized by last month's tornadoes. One month ago today. Whenever we have a thunderstorm, the people here freak out.
Yes indeed and hot zones have switched, In April it was the MS Valley/Southeast and for May it's been the Plains while most of the SE has been hot and dry or wet w/ little activity in severe weather.
That's understandable, if I had went through the nightmare of riding out a EF4 tornado I would be on pins and needles whenever a thunderstorm or severe weather comes in afterwards too. Even if you didn't go through a tornado last month here, the cloud to ground lightning, hail and damaging winds has been impressive alone this year. It seems to get more violent with every passing severe weather season in the Spring I've noticed in the past 3 years alone.

So basically what I'm reading out of this is that
this

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
will replace
this on the SD feed

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
which will mean the Satellite LF will be the same on the SD/HD feeds, only difference would be quality. Am I correct?

TWC Fan Art / Re: wxgatlin's artwork
« on: May 24, 2011, 04:35:23 PM »1 Hour to complete. More work will be done once I have time. I plan to finish this and release it.
Pretty good, but I think the white pointer on the LDL is a little too large.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: May 23, 2011, 03:49:21 PM »The new graphics are nice but it seems TWC has lost any continuity with their graphics. With the HD launch all of their shows had unique packages but still felt connected. Now it seems things are a mess of old and new graphics. The lack of decent themed music is disappointing as well.
My feelings exactly. It's a visual mess, more often than not unfortunately. What I don't get is why they're not rolling everything that is new out at the same time to create an immediately recognizable unified look.
The last part of your post in bold is what is bothering me the most about this. I don't believe it's been like that since they went HD, most of the shows may have gradually debuted in the HD studio at the time, but as far as the graphics and the music show themes they pretty much connected and weren't mixed matched with previous show packages like it is now. Also I might sound like a broken record, but I wish they would change YWT's graphics/music theme, I hated it when it debuted in March 2010 and I still do now.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Redesigned website coming soon!
« on: May 21, 2011, 09:23:38 PM »WOW! it looks much nicer in columns than in rows! but too bad you have to enter "beta.weather.com" or else it won't work.
I believe it has to do with the internet browsers because I have been using Chrome for over a year and that design automatically comes up on there.
EDIT: Yep that's gotta be it in IE9 the old version comes up.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: May 21, 2011, 06:22:09 PM »It may be too soon to say, but I see a return to an emphasis on the "square" formed by the logo, similar to elements in the 05-08 graphics.
The WV intro does kinda remind me of the intros used during that time and it also has a similar look as the WN intro ued in 2001-2003 as a couple of you have said.

It should look like this now unless they're still tweaking it.
