We almost have Tropical Depression #1 - 90% chance of development.

1. AN AIR FORCE RESERVE UNIT HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT INVESTIGATING
THE BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE BAY OF CAMPECHE WAS ABLE TO
LOCATE A LOW-LEVEL CENTER OF CIRCULATION.  HOWEVER...THE ASSOCIATED
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE NOT SUFFICIENTLY ORGANIZED TO
DESIGNATE THE SYSTEM AS A TROPICAL DEPRESSION AT THIS TIME.
UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE LIKELY TO BECOME MORE CONDUCIVE FOR
DEVELOPMENT...AND THE LOW HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A TROPICAL
DEPRESSION AT ANY TIME.  THERE IS A HIGH CHANCE...90 PERCENT...OF
THIS SYSTEM BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS AS
IT MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 5 TO 10 MPH.  INTERESTS ALONG THE
EAST COAST OF MEXICO IN THE STATES OF TAMAULIPAS AND VERACRUZ
SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM...AS A TROPICAL
STORM WARNING MAY BE REQUIRED FOR PORTIONS OF THESE AREAS TONIGHT
OR EARLY WEDNESDAY.  LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS AND GUSTY WINDS SHOULD
CONTINUE OVER PORTIONS OF EASTERN MEXICO OVER THE NEXT DAY OR TWO.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

From what I heard they are remodeling. New sets, new desk and new graphics(?)
I sure do hope so, but I'm not holding my breath on the latter. But if there were new graphics, I'm hoping they would change YWT. Its graphics are just ugly.

Why not? They just recently changed Weekend Now's graphics, that would be a sign to me that the other remaining shows still carrying the June 2008 graphics will be revamped graphically also. It would be pretty stupid to leave a mixed bag of old and new graphics of snow openers like that imo.
WNs are unchanged.. you meant WV right? :P

Yeah...that's what I meant.  :P

Programming and Graphics / Re: Studio Upgrade/Revamp

The HD studio already looks so good. I can't imagine what other ideas the have in store right now. By new graphics, I hope you mean for the IS. After four years, they could use some touching up. I'll be interested to see what happens.

They seriously do, not because I still hate the way it looks, but it should have some kind of a graphical relation to the on air graphics.

I love our ABC affiliate here especially when they do severe weather coverage, but do you think this ad is credible? Does it seem like hype what he's saying about this new radar of theirs?

Do I think it is credible? Yes.  Hype?  Not so much.  As I said recently in another thread, severe weather sells.  Seems they are trying to get people to check out their new RADAR, and see why they should trust this station for weather coverage.

I think it's credible, but I just wanted to see what other people's opinions would be. They certainly don't have to try very hard to pull in viewers for severe weather coverage. They work tirelessly on many occasions during severe weather outbreaks for as long as 4 to 6 hours straight with no commercial or news interruptions keeping folks safe. The April 27th tornado outbreak is one of many for example. Every other station was a joke doing their own version of TWC live weather updates every 30 minutes or not even bothering with that and decided a crawl would do the trick, our FOX affiliate greatly disappointed me that night reporting that a possible mile wide tornado was on the ground near Rome, Ga then went back to American Idol! All I kept thinking was "WTH? Why would you say something like that then go back to regular programming? That's stupid. It was like they didn't even care. (Sorry about the sudden rant at the end, when I think about how those other stations constantly drop the ball in circumstances like this it really bothers me. It's no wonder this station has been #1 in ratings for so long.)

First Tropical Depression coming soon?

50% chance of development.

Quote
Satellite pictures and surface observations suggest that the broad area of low pressure over the eastern bay of campeche is gradually becoming better defined. Although upper-level winds are not currently conducive for significant development, these winds are forecast to become more favorable during the next day or so. There is a medium chance, 50 percent, of this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves slowly west-northwestward. An Air Force reserve unit Hurricane Hunter plane is scheduled to investigate the area Tuesday afternoon, if necessary. Regardless of development, locally heavy rains and gusty winds are possible over portions of the yucatan peninsula and southeastern Mexico tonight. These rains and winds will gradually spread westward into northeastern Mexico during the next day or two.

Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion

I was digging through the archives and found this text on the 36-hour forecast. I had never seen it before...has anyone else? "Rain....perhaps a rumble of thunder in the afternoon".

Yeah, I've seen that plenty of times. Particularly during the winter/early spring.

I like it! TWC should use that one, I've always thought that purple fit the show better than blue.

Thanks, right now I'm torn between 3 color schemes: Blue, Blue/Purple, and Blue/Orange.

Anyway, here's a video of those themes.

Which Color Scheme Looks Better?
