I forgot to mention this earlier, but when they showed the LF squeezeback on DP (I think it was during the 3pm hour) It showed the one for satellite viewers instead of the one for IntelliStar viewers.

The squeezeback has been on since this morning. I don't know about overnight though..

It was last night, I was kinda surprised.

We have officially tied a record heat streak this summer, the temperature reached 90 degrees today, meaning this is the 90th day we have reached this temperature or above this summer. The last time this occurred was in the Summer of 1980. I don't believe we'll break that record, but at least we tied it. If there's anything good about this relentless heat this year at least it's that we got to go for a record.

If they did, maybe they lost rights to the artists they were using.

General Weather Chat / Re: Farmers Almanac Winter 2012 Prediction
« on: September 13, 2011, 07:47:46 PM »
It's nice to see these predictions, but I don't put much faith in them. La Ninas and El Ninos are tricky and most forecasts are based off of what a typical one will do instead of taking into account other factors that can override their effects like I mentioned about the Greenland blocking in the La NIna thread. Although I have to give the Farmer's Almanac some credit, they were mostly right calling for a colder, wetter and snowier winter here last winter and the winter before that.

EDIT: It's interesting that they expect most of the South including a large chunk of TX to be very wet. That's not usually typical of La Nina so something else must be factoring into the mix.

The "tune to Weatherscan instead" argument doesn't even work, considering how few people have it.

Thank you so much for mentioning this, Eric. I am tired of hearing how people always say "If you don't have a LOT8s, then you can always tune to WeatherScan" because it is not available for all cable companies!

Question: Does YWT transition directly from live coverage to LOT8s?
-Yes, but IDK if it's for every LF though.

Here's something I've thought of. The use of normal LOT8s during peak shows (such as WUWA and YWT) and the squeezeback during less peak shows such as DP kind of reminds me of what they did with the big (33%) LDL when they had it. The LOT8s is used normally during peak shows because viewership is high (this unfortunately does NOT explain why it is not used on WCL). On the contrary, the squeezeback is used on less peak shows. Just a theory...

Good theory, but like you said that doesn't really explain why WCL was using the squeezeback last night. I thought WCL was a fairly high rated show. In fact I thought only DP was the lowest rated because it comes on during the day when most people are not at home.

As for Weatherscan: Try this for worst case scenario, How about having Weatherscan available in your area, but you can't watch it because the Crapfinity wants to screw you out of as much money as possible by pushing it up on a higher, more expensive digital cable package than you had before which they have done once before in the past. <_< And this is even better, they leave us with a defunct NBC Weatherplus station that only shows a radar w/ no sound and both of these channels are on the lineup right next to eachother!

« on: September 13, 2011, 05:56:00 PM »
It'll be interesting to see if this winter is a repeat of last winter as far as the Greenland Blocking we had because of a persistent -NAO, despite having a moderately strong La NIna this prevented us from a having a mild and dry winter in the SE, but instead a cold, somewhat wet and snowy winter. The NAO is forecasted to go negative again this winter. I see fun times ahead.

I'm sorry for the double-post, but have you ever see such roller coaster temperatures in your life? This is the 5-day forecast for Norman, OK.

In OK, yes. I remember once this past winter right before they had a blizzard (I think it was in Jan. or Feb. this year) One day they were in the 60's and 70's then the next when the front came through they were in the teens and single digits. I would like to be there in the winter, they always seem to have wild swings like that going uphill or downhill.

If they seriously even remotely considered getting rid of the LOT8s format, they just wasted a VERY considerable amount of time and money working on a new HD STAR that is not only been around for a little over a year, but is still not widely available to everyone.

If that truly became the case, that time, money and resources could have been spent working on a flashy and stylish local forecast squeezeback, oh wait.... :P

Anybody know what that black thing is I circled in red? Is it like a clicker or something? Kinda odd to be laying on the floor whatever it is.

Mike Siedel will be in-studio with Todd Santos from 11 AM - 2 PM ET
Not only That, the LO8 L Bar is back at :08, :18, :38 and :48???
I sure hope this is not a trend. Having two LFs per hour defeats the whole purpose of having a playlist. <_<

I'm gonna assume long form programming is going to be partly or completely preempted today. That seems to be the only time this happens so far.

Well my theory turned out to be wrong, looks like Storm Stories will be coming up next as Nick said not too long ago. If you want to see a positive of this, it's only being shown during DP, the squeezeback hasn't shown up on any other show so far in this fashion.
