Everything Else TWC / Re: TWC Social
« on: September 30, 2011, 07:54:02 PM »
Boy I didn't truly realize this until now, but the longer this thing exists, the more shameless the plugs get. :itsok: Why are they forcing the OCMs to keep saying that same dang phrase over and over again every time they do this segment? "We have a new one of a kind partnership with Twitter" After two months I'm pretty sure it's not considered new and I'm sure most people who uses or doesn't use it gives a crap anymore. I quickly grab the remote to change the channel as soon as I hear the word "twitter" come out of their mouths. If I'm gonna make shameless plugs like this, I hope I'm getting paid extra for it because then I'll say it as much as they want me to.  :P

Well it worked, but I don't like how it crops the top and bottom also. I didn't think it would do that. I was hoping it would look the same as the LOT8s intro does widescreen.

Weekend View's Updated Graphics and the TruVu Max radar. Everything else was a disappointment.

General Discussion / Any Video Converter

Has anyone else used this program? I need help with something. I usually use this program to compress edited Windows Live Movie Maker files into compressed .avi files because the files are outrageously large. ex: 80mb for a 2 minute video, 100+mb if I use the save as HD option. Anyway, what I need help on is what frame size option should I use in Any Video Converter so that when I upload it to Youtube it stretches out across the whole video player? You know where there's no letterboxing on the left and right side. I uploaded a test video I saved under the HD option in Windows Live Movie Maker w/o using Any Video Converter to compress it and the video is still letterboxed. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Also I tried the yt:crop=16:9 trick, it didn't work either.

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: IntelliStar 2 Beta Launch
« on: September 29, 2011, 05:59:36 PM »
This is great! I can't wait to get a clip of it Saturday. I'm assuming Downtown Atlanta is going to be configured similar to Marietta.  The only problem is I hate I won't be able to get it in HD quality.

EDIT: Also, regarding the thread title, should the IS2 still even be considered a beta launch if it's already showing up in several major cities/markets now?

Weatherscan Discussion / Re: Alert scrolls
« on: September 29, 2011, 05:51:44 PM »
The last time I was able to view Weatherscan last year, I remember once seeing a Severe T'Storm Warning crawl on TWC, but it didn't show up on Weatherscan. I assumed it was an error.

2993
I remember back in January 2008 being under a Snow Advisory (first time I had ever heard of this) and being somewhat confused what the criteria was. Was it similar to a Winter Weather Advisory for us? I assumed it was because we only picked up like 1-2 inches from that storm at that time.

Most likely because of a small snowfall total. Before the switch of advisories, there was a Heavy Snow Advisory, which was likely for larger snow accumulations.

Today, a Winter Weather Advisory just means winter weather conditions, whether it be icing, snow, or freezing rain, meet advisory criteria, but not warning criteria. So, you could have had an Icing Warning back then and today's Winter Weather Advisory could mean the same thing. They merged a ton of things into that single product.  :bleh:

I guess so, that was actually a downgrade from the Heavy Snow Warning (first time I had ever heard of that also) that was issued the evening prior to the snow coming.

I hate that, I think it should be apart of the rotation. For me, I would scrap either the Hourly screen or Daypart, I don't feel there's a need for both to be used in the same LF or at least scrap them for the :28 and :58 LFs.

Looks like TWC heard me, i tuned in at :18 and heard I'm waiting for you - Jackiem Joyner K Flavors are back!

This is what Tyler said in the General TWC Discussion thread...

The locals will be temporarily coming back during all live programming until they can fix a few things and send out an update. Then the squeezeback will return for :08/:18/:38/:48, and the locals will only play at :28/:58.

Ah, well that's a bummer. :hmm: Thank you both for answering. I do remember seeing a picture here of the Climate Data screen, but I figured the record low/high would be a separate entity like it is on the regular IntelliStar.

I can't recall if this has been asked before, but does the IS2 display a record high/low screen?

Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Storm Ophelia
« on: September 26, 2011, 11:09:13 PM »
I am so ready for this hurricane season to be over with. What a lackluster. This season has brought a whole new meaning to the term, "Swimming With the Fishes". Besides the record number of tropical systems we've had in August and September, it has been nothing but cold front tropical systems, (Complete waste because many of them had the potential to be drought busters for the ARKLATEX and the SE) very ill tropical storms (same potential as the cold front spawn TS's). I'm not even gonna get started on the 3 hurricanes we've had so far.

Ophelia is becoming a thorn in my side, I was sure we wouldn't be hearing anything else from this remnant low and it's chances to redevelop would be slim to none, but then this happens...(sighs)

I brought up to my mom about switching our cable boxes to HD ones again because it is a waste to have a SD one for a HDTV and this time around she said, "Yeah, sure." She claimed she told me to remind her to call back when I asked her over a month ago, but I don't remember her saying anything of the sort.  Well anyway, once we have those HD cable boxes (maybe by the end of the week or this weekend) I'll check TWCHD and see if we do have the IS2 here. If we do, I'll try to get a clip of it and post it here.
