The DirecTV LF cannot handle animation, let alone an ad crawl

I didn't think it could, but I wasn't sure and like I said about the ad crawl, it's just there for this video. I don't have any intentions of keeping it on there.

DirecTV LF App Concept

Graphically, this will look familiar because it's essentially started from the most recent LF design concept I've worked on, but I made some significant tweaks and I believe this could go for a new generation of the LF app DirecTV subscribers get to see. I still like the idea of using a city backdrop rather than some boring generic background, so that's why I kept that in. I forgot to include the radar so that's why it's not there.

*The only forecast products updated is the Right Now Screen (First one) and the 7 Day Forecast.

Also I threw in some animation, but I'm not sure if the real LF app on DirecTV can handle something like that or not.

Make a thread in this subforum addressing the issue, the STAR team should be able to look into the problem for you there.  ;)

Unfortunately none, I really need to stop procrastinating and get around to getting one. It seems like severe weather season tries to outdo or outpace the one from the year before.

I'm losing track of all these new long-form shows being added.

That's alright, most of it is nothing but filler anyway. ;)

I find it pretty cool that this Melissa lady takes the time to respond to so many emails w/ no problem and I assume she probably replies back quickly. That's really good too, some people who work in other venues where they have to answer questions via emails don't care to help or take time to respond to questions, comments, and concerns. :)

Well Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today meaning 6 more weeks of winter. The only thing I have to say to that is "Where the heck has winter been the past 2 months?"  :dunno: This is winter like weather? Heh, I hate to see what Spring like weather is...:whistling:

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow? You sure he wasn't hallucinating?  :rofl2:

Or drunk, I'm gonna assume both. :P Our groundhog General Lee didn't see his so Spring will be here for good soon although he says that every year...

That's why I hate this mild weather has gone for so long as it has, even if February doesn't work out to be cold and stormy, I still think March and April will be which will be terrible news for the agriculture community.

Also, I've heard some folks who live in the SE at other forums say they're seeing flowers/trees blossom along with pollen and even mosquitoes!

Until Tyler or Martin or other reliable source confirms that there is indeed a new STAR platform, I think we need to be patient and not hold our breath.  Rumors can go a long way, and what if this is one of them?

why would you think the reply it's a rumor? i bet if you asked your cable company you'd get a reply about the platform too.

Well Alex, if I asked my "cable" company about a new STAR platform, they would probably scratch their heads and wonder what the heck I was talking about, considering my provider is AT&T U-verse and they don't even have a STAR!

That's something that has always bothered me about them. AT&T U-Verse is supposed to be a cable company right? I don't think it's right that they don't provide a local forecast (STAR), they should be required to do so. Every other cable company (and DirecTV) does so why can't they do the same? Eventhough I can get the forecasts online, I may not have access to the internet or no local news might not be on, I would want to be able to have the ability to see a local forecast and not a national one.

You can't really take that for gospel either, they could be telling you what you want to hear, not actually knowing what you're talking about. If there's a new STAR in the works, great, but I need more solid proof evidence of this.

I feel somewhat confident and optimistic that February will be the transition month back to Winter, but we'll see. It helps that the Global models agree on a building Pacific Ridge (+PNA) and even hint at a possible -NAO in the long to medium range! I can't remember the last time this entire winter this had happened. It's basically been every model for itself.

I didn't mentioned this in the previous post, but the possible Miller A storm around February 10th does have support from the GFS ensembles so that's a positive sign. :) I don't care about it being a big storm or not for my area, I just want to see some snow for pete's sake! :P The mild weather is ok and all, but it's getting very old and it doesn't feel right  considering how consistently cold it was last winter.

I know this is gonna change, but were finally seeing fantasy storms again on the GFS! (Well about the past 3 runs or so around the 10th of Feb.) What's even more wild is it bleeds a 1052 HP across the Plains. The bottom literally falls out across the Eastern 2/3rds of the US.
