I'll have a map up on my preliminary snow/ice forecast later.

Just to add to this, the Grammys are going to be significantly revised to include tributes to Whitney Houston and include her in the list of music legends lost this past year.

I didn't want to post this in the What's the Weather Like In Your Area thread, so I'll post it here. Laugh if you must, but I had on about 9 or 10 layers this morning when going to my Saturday morning class at college.

I had on
-A skull cap
-Trapper hat on top of the skull cap
-T-shirt
-Long sleeve shirt
-Hoodie
-A Peacoat on top of the hoodie
-Gloves
-Long Johns
-Lastly my ripped jeans and Timberland boots

I started to put on a pair of pajamas on top of the Long Johns also. The only thing missing was a scarf because I don't have one, but if I did I would have thrown that on too. :P

Temps continue to go off the deep end, were now into the upper 20s (29)

Wind - NNW 21mph , Gusts to 34mph (Highest gust was 41mph reported at Hartsfield Int'l)
Wind Chill -16 degrees and boy does it feel worse.  :brr: :brr: :brr:
DP - 8 Degrees

It's amazing how winter can be so warm and pleasant and then old man winter, just like a road raging driver pulls up next to you just to give you the good o'l finger. I knew we were gonna pay for those 70s last weekend.

Around 9am I saw a mix of snow and graupel.

Right now it's 35 partly cloudy and very windy. Temps have fallen about 1 degree per hour since 9am when the arctic front moved through.

Didn't Evening Edition used to be like that initially with like 4 or 5 people?

General Discussion / Re: Valentine's Day

Funny, cute but true story. This past weekend, my niece who's 5 was looking at a sales paper of products being sold for V-Day, I think it was CVS I don't remember. Anyway, she asked me what was I getting her for Valentines Day which caught me off guard so I said, "Um I don't know, how about a lot of candy?" Then she tells me, "Ok uncle, but you don't have to get me just candy, you can get me some clothes too because I like getting new outfits."  I couldn't help laughing after she told me that. If that wasn't bad enough, she then tells me I should get enough candy for her parents too. She amazes me with the type of things she says and does.
Was she serious or just being silly? If one of my nieces asked me what I was getting them for Valentine's Day, I'd say (while showing a fist) "a knuckle sandwich - you want cheese on it?" I get my nieces and nephews something (cheap) for Christmas and that's it. I don't want them to see me as a gift machine.

She was serious, but she didn't really understand at the time that Valentines Day doesn't exactly work in the same way as Christmas or birthdays. I'm the same as you, I only really buy her gifts on her birthday and Christmas, I don't like to spoil her unlike some in the family have done (and to an extent) still doing. It makes it harder to break her out of that habit.

Sounds like a spinoff of truTV's Ocean Force. Nothing new.

A lot of these shows seem like stuff that should be on truTV or Discovery. :itsok:

The only plausible one is "Hurricane Hunters"

General Discussion / Re: YouTube subscriptions

It's been a while since this thread has been active, but I didn't want to start a new one. Speaking of subscriptions, in retrospect I probably shouldn't have been so quick to give a positive opinion on the recent changes to the subscription page. The new layout comes off as being too cluttered and sometimes unless I look at subscribers separately, it's hard to keep up with videos I have or haven't seen because they get buried to the bottom quickly. One of the features I missed from the old layout was being able to delete videos if you already watched them or they just disappeared from the sub box once you watched them.

The other night I had a dream about snow, it wasn't anything extreme, but you know it's been a crappy winter if the only way you can see snow is to dream about it. :(
