General Discussion / Re: The Pot Belly Stove

I would only agree to this statement if it were September or October.  Time is flying by for me, but not really this year; we're only 1/6th of the way through!
I'm referring to how quickly the year seems to be progressing already.  It doesn't feel that long ago when we welcomed it.

Yeah, then we'll all be saying the samething by the time hurricane season arrives, then Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and by then we repeat the process all over again in 2013 only even faster. :P

I haven't been looking at any models for myself lately, but what  I'm hearing from other knowledgeable members (severe wx isn't really my expertise when it comes to the models) on other forums, I don't like what I'm hearing about severe wx this week. Sounds like it could  be insane, that puts a bad feeling in my stomach.

Really? That's odd. There are three tags on mine, and they're calling for possible severe weather when there is only isolated thunderstorms. It's too sensitive on mine and not enough on yours, for some reason.

And of course they removed it changing it to Scattered Thunderstorms.

It's not often you see Scattered Strong Thunderstorms in the local forecast 3 days in advance (well actually 4 because it was there yesterday also). Yet, it's still not enough to warrant one of those mets to add a red tag to the LF.
Am I going to have to resort to scolding them to get them to add one?  :poke: :punish: :P

General Weather Chat / Re: What's the weather in your area?
« on: February 24, 2012, 06:38:55 AM »
I'm very confused now, I don't know if it's February or July. I don't think I have ever seen a case where it was this freakin' warm on a late February morning. Seriously, it was 69 when I went to bed around a quarter to midnight and that's exactly where it is right now 7 hours later! :o Thunderstorms (some severe) will be moving in later this morning into early afternoon.

Whoever the forecaster is who issued those warnings sure has been getting a lot of grief at other weather forums, he's been getting chewed out over this.

A new intro I worked on today for this video (and future videos pertaining to Severe Weather) This severe weather coverage video is from April 25th, 2010 nearly 2 years ago.

Looking at this DP loop, DPs in the mid 50s to low 60s are starting to move northward so this cap over the SE/TN Valley should start breaking over the next couple of hours now that were getting more moisture involved. Heck, if were not gonna get any snow this winter, I guess we might as well see some thunderstorms. That's about the only thing we have seen an abundance of this winter.

Not sure if Weather Center Live will be extended as they are still promoting the new programming for 9pm ET.

My thinking is if they postpone Lifeguard it would re-air tomorrow night at 9.

I'm afraid that show is gonna go on as scheduled just as I had suspected. The only reason they would have preempted was for severe weather and so far there is none. If anything fires up within the next hour, it may be a different story.

General Discussion / Re: Gas prices in your area
« on: February 23, 2012, 08:17:00 AM »
Speaking of rising gas prices, watch how during this 2 minute report from ABC news the gas rose 10 cents from 4.99 to 5.09. If you watch the actual video and not just the before/after pictures, you can tell from the very beginning of the video they were fixin' to change the price because the 4.99 on the billboard kept flickering in and out.

Hmm, I think Stephanie Abrams needs to brush up on her Geography... :whistling:

"Rome, GA is about 75 miles NW of Savannah."

Um, yeah... That sounds about right, I usually tell people who don't know where Atlanta is that it's on the GA coast. :P
