No, but I'll see if I can catch it today or tomorrow. Like I said before it only seems to pop up occasionally at :28/:58 past.

General Discussion / Re: Trayvon Martin
« on: March 22, 2012, 07:30:28 AM »
There's a somewhat similar case that occurred in Mississippi with a 19yo white male teenager that purposely ran over and killed a black man as a hate crime, but I won't derail this thread with that case.

There is so many problems and controversy circulating around this case it's mind boggling. For one, FL obviously needs to reevaluate it's "Stand Your Ground" law because there are serious loopholes in it if it's allowing Zimmerman to still be free right now. He shouldn't be protected under that law if Trayvon himself wasn't armed with any firearm or weapon so Zimmerman can't claim self defense for shooting him. The way this law is being treated it's basically say, "Hey, you got a gun and you don't like someone go shoot em, it's cool it'll only be self defense right?" What's starling is the homicide rate jumped 3x what it was prior to the law, I don't see how that doesn't raise eyebrows.

Hopefully Zimmerman will be rotting in prison very soon he needs to suffer for what he did. It's very sickening to keep hearing and seeing about things like this happening. :(

Of course, you would have to be insane not to!

Is it easy to make an internet cartoon show?

There's a 2 minute flavor that I like on my IntelliStar that features the metro maps (now and/or " " forecast) and regional maps (now and/or " " forecast) along with the 4x4 cities observation page. I couldn't tell you it's always shown at 28 or 58 past because it seems to come up randomly, but when it does show I like to see it because it reminds me of how the Intellistar used to be configured before they started introducing traffic products.

Okay, this is very contradicting.. but why is a FOX show being advertised during LOT8s on TWC, an NBC network?!

Was it a local insert by your cable company?

If he's talking about that "Touch" show promo, I don't think so because I saw it too. I occasionally see TWC air promos outside of networks not under NBC's reign so I guess it's not too surprising.

As Mike said I think the text is coming from the NWS, but the forecast next to the icons always contradict that.

General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch

The 2010-2011 winter in eastern Massachusetts involved a sizable snowfall every two to three days from the end of December until the middle of February.  I would hope the majority of people would enjoy a year off from the misery of heavy snowfall.

Well aside from whether you love or hate snow, you have to take into consideration the Skiing industry. I'm sure a great deal of the resorts in the Eastern US have suffered for the blowtorch winter that's not exactly good for them economy wise. The same way it would be in the Summer if there was a massive drought ongoing across a large region of the US and there were very low lake levels, Lake resorts would suffer.

4000 Satellite Local Forecast Circa 1995 (Custom Made Flavor Lineup)

Song: Kenny G - All In One Night
This song was featured on the November 1995 Playlist
Source: twcclassics.com

I haven't seen many SLFs from the 4000 era here on YT with a distinct flavor lineup so I made up my own and since I haven't gotten around to completing the gray regional maps for the MidAtlantic, Midwest, Northwest, Southwest, or Southern Plains I threw in a National map that I made to make up for it.

This is also the only project that has managed to last up to a year that I have ever worked on in the past 4 years. I originally started on this in March 2011.

New Products Since March 2011
National Radar Map
Tornado/Severe T'Storm Watch Map
National Forecast Map (I hope this map isn't too hard to read, I used the same cities used on the national maps on weather.com, the only one missing is Washington, DC which is purposely missing since it's used as one of the extended forecast cities.)

General Discussion / Re: The Pot Belly Stove

Sometimes I think it confuses the differences between haze and fog like the other day it reported light rain/fog. It was raining, but it wasn't foggy just a little hazy at best.

I really wish they would get rid of HiRAD, but I know they won't. The sky conditions that get reported on the IS here is usually always wrong too. If it says Partly Cloudy or Fair, it's Cloudy and vice versa, it's very annoying and it's slow about updating when precip moves in. The temp readings here aren't as bad as the sky obs are though, but sometimes they're way off base also.
