Were still a few weeks from the official start of hurricane season, but we already have moderate interest churning off the SE coast that could affect folks from GA to NC by this Mother's Day weekend. If it receives a name, it will be "Ana".

That same storm system that was affecting you guys in TX is affecting us here now in GA, but it's been very underwhelming here in Atlanta. Other parts of GA, not so much. There's been quite a few Severe Thunderstorm/Tornado Warnings this morning in NW ans S. GA for about the past 3 hours. Meanwhile I've been lucky enough if I got to see moderate rain, let alone lightning, thunder, winds, or hail that would qualify as a "thunderstorm". Regardless, were under a Tornado Watch until 3pm today and a Flash Flood Watch until 2am Monday morning.

Yaaaawnnn.

Hello everyone, back from hibernation. Have I missed much? :P

Can't wait to watch your series ToxicTwister, must be a tough project. Quick question, how are you doing for voice actors?

Actually I haven't started doing any voice work yet. I just recently settled on a mircophone that I want to buy/use. It's been a Catch-22 because I can't really animate much if anything without audio to sync the character animations and body rigs to. In the meantime, I've been working on the theme opening for the series. I completed the script for the pilot a year ago, but after re-reading it over again last week it probably could use some "cleaning up". Just a heads up to anyone interested in seeing the series, it's not a G-rated type of show, it does have profanity and some suggestive themes in it.

Welcome back, Boyercam.   The big things going on have been TWC dropping Kim Cunningham and the Verizon dispute.  There have been a few severe weather events, including yet another Moore, OK tornado.

Good luck on the series, Toxictwister.  I'm looking forward to seeing something.

At least the weather has settled down a little.  I saw what could be considered marble-sized hail but I hear that others in the area had hail that exceeded baseball size.  The rain and even the thunder made for some soothing sleep, though.

Thanks Metarvo!

If anyone is interested, I can post the pilot script and maybe a character profile on the main characters here. If you are interested and you're also willing to take it a step further and offer any feedback/suggestions that would be much appreciated too.

TWC Fan Art / Re: Weatherlover's Artwork
« on: April 15, 2015, 12:10:16 AM »
Just like the video yesterday, there's a lot of graphical revisions/corrections that have been made, honestly too many to name right off the top of my head. However, a few changes include a black outer glow around TWC's logo and the text "weather.com", a daypart forecast completed as well as The Week Ahead. The radar has been slightly tweaked (includes a 2 second pause before re-looping). I don't know the technical term for this, but i call it the gradient "L" line where the title header is, well that's been tweaked as well. The main thing I haven't fleshed out yet is the blue flash effect where the blue templates transition in/out.

The song is "Birdland" by Weather Report, one of my all-time favorite songs to be featured on TWC back in the early 2000's.

As a sidenote: Check out the rainy pattern were in for the next 7 days. Is this Atlanta or Seattle?

OCMs & Personalities / Re: OCM Kim Cunningham let go
« on: April 11, 2015, 10:41:28 PM »
I've been neutral towards Kim, never disliked or liked her. Although, instead of letting her go, I would have liked if they went in the same route as they did with Carl Parker and made her an addition to the experts team with Brian, Greg, and Michael during hurricane season. It's not like she didn't have the experience/knowledge in that field, she was a hurricane hunter.

Sigh, I guess this means one of long time favs Vivian Brown is likely going to be shown the door as well sooner rather than later at this rate.  There's not that many veteran OCMs from pre-2000 left. :( Also, I never thought I would ever say this, but I've really begun to dislike Jim Cantore. I think that last Thundersnow mash up video only solidified it. Plus the way he sold out during that DirecTV/TWC fiasco last year. Very disappointing.

It's been over a year and I haven't been making as much progress with my cartoon series as I would have liked at this point, but I believe that will be changing very soon over the next few months. I guess part of the slowdown in progress has been because this is a "one man show" right now. Creating the characters, the script, the backgrounds, voice over (Oh lord, please pray for me on that one, this could be a disaster! ) Also, I've been considering the option of veering away from After Effects and animating in Flash instead and designing some of the background stuff in Blender.

Since this has taken longer than I anticipated, I'm thinking it's best I just do a short of the pilot I've already written instead of animating the whole thing and see how folks react to it. My goal is to have something completed by the end of the Summer. Words can't really express how excited I am to be doing something like this! :D

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

Tom Nizol is in The Lab. Thought he only did winter weather? And I wonder how much longer he will be in there today. TWC will be on all day and looks to be on all night again.

That's probably why he's there so others like Carl, Mike, and Jim won't be burnt out. I would imagine if they hadn't of canned Kim she would be helping out as well. I remember on a few occasions like the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011 for example where they brought in Bryan Norcross to work alongside with Dr. Greg Forbes. Usually, you wouldn't see Norcross outside of hurricane season.

I'm glad they are running the HD feed on the SD feed. It makes sense to do so. I'm surprised it's taken this long to start doing it considering they have been in HD for almost 7 years. I guess the slow progression of IS2s may have been a factor. Also I would imagine they're saving money by getting rid of the IntelliStar in favor of running the IntelliStar2 on two feeds instead of having to operate/maintain two different STARs on two separate feeds. Besides it's not like there a major differences among the IS/IS2/heck even the IS2jr now unlike pre 2013.

Accuweather and TWC are truly sad, pathetic cases now. This back and forth stuff was cute for about a hot second, but at this point it's pity. What is this high school? I just hope this crap doesn't drag on like the DirecTV/TWC debacle did.

I think this pretty much sums up TWC/Accuweather's behaviors pretty well.

I just noticed the webpage for our NWS office has been redesigned. I think this is that redesign noaa.gov was talking about last year. Is the redesign in place for all offices?

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Atlanta&state=GA&site=FFC&textField1=33.7629&textField2=-84.4226&e=1#.VRrcV_nF98E

EDIT: They should bold the title heading for titles like Current Conditions, City Name, Detailed Forecast, etc. I think it would look better.

Toshiba Canvio Desk 2TB External Hard Drive for my Wii U

Man, I don't think I've ever done so much research on electronics when it came to external hard drives in my life! I had a really hard time choosing one I felt would be right for me, but this one seemed to be the one mentioned a lot and Nintendo did test/recommend it so...yeah. I'm gonna be downloading a lot of games from here on out, 2TB will be more than enough storage space, actually it's probably ridiculously too much.

EDIT: Something that grinds my gears, I wonder why the portable ones are just as expensive as the desktop ones, but in some cases have less storage space. What a big rip-off. Also I would have thought 1 and 2TB hard drives would be a lot cheaper than what they are right now considering you can get some up to 3-4TB for only $20 more on average.
