Severe Weather / Re: Severe Weather Season 2012
« on: May 29, 2012, 09:41:05 PM »
I'm becoming concerned for Friday here. I'm not as much of an expert in the severe weather department when it comes to the models, but from what I've been hearing it's not going to be pleasant. Last night one of our local mets said the setup was very potent and reminded him of something we would see in March rather than the first of June. Heck, even TWC has been red tagging the LF about for two days, never seen them keep up notice for that long before. :o

EDIT: In the meantime, we might have these to contend with. Who wants to bet $100 these storms fizzle out before they get to I-85?

Sorry for the double post, but I've done some more digging around today about component cables and I was wondering are component cables (green/blue/red) generally show a better video quality than composite (yellow/white/red) cables? Throwing out what I said about recording true HD quality, would it at least be a step ahead in video quality than the composite setup I'm using now? I'm not trying to come up with an excuse to keep from upgrading, I've been planning on getting a new tuner for a couple of years now, but I've always heard and read that was the case, but I don't know because I've never tried them myself to test that theory.  :dunno:

Thank you Zach,

Getting a new tuner was my plan B anyway, but I wanted to make sure before I bought one. I was thinking about getting a HD PVR  like you suggested.

I have a question to ask for those who are interested in watching this as a favor for me. I started using my TV tuner with Windows Media Center tonight (Will be Tuesday for most of you all when you see this) and I was wondering does this video look like it's at least 720p HD quality? The video quality has NEVER looked this great when using my TV Tuner as a standalone, it usually looks grainy. (SD and HD) I guess that's because I still use a VCR  to connect the other end of the coaxial cable from the tuner.

Does This Video Look Like It's In HD Quality?

That actually leads me to my next question. Anyone know or can help me find any info on how to set up my WinTV HVR 850 tuner directly with my Comcast HD Set Up Box? I really just want a better way to watch and record shows without having to use a VCR anymore. I wanna be able to get HD quality or at the least better video quality than what I am getting using my VCR/Coaxial Cable/A/V cables.

Thanks for any ounce of help you can give!

87, with a few clouds.

One of Beryl's rain bands is inching closer and closer to me. I hope it gets here. We could use the rainfall too. Not as bad as our neighbors south of us, but still we are technically in a moderate drought (about 3 inches behind for the year)

They did the same thing in Indy, but there they were expecting the heat index to hover close to 100 along with some areas reaching record highs.

Final Draft Video
I studied over various different still images of the 4000 to get the background, blue template, extended forecast templates, and the orange titlebar as accurate as possible. The radar once again I take absolutely no credit for. That is from the 4000 v3 emulator. I'm just using it temporarily until I can finish drawing up together some county outlines/interstate outlines to go with the Intellicast radars which I'll be using as my radar source.

About half of the info is accurate, (mainly the local forecast segment)

You have to download or open the attachment to see the video. (File size - 6.23mb)

I changed my username to reflect my obsession of the 4000. My life would be completely fulfilled if I could actually get to see one in person imp.  I did see it once or twice back when I was 5, but my memory is fuzzy, the orange/blue/purple background is what stuck out to me in my mind imp.

Looks like the 90-second flavors started playing at :28 and :58 each hour as well during the Weekend Morning Hours.

So if these 90-second flavors are part of all weekend shows, DP, and WCL at :28/:58 now, when are they not used?  I thought someone said not all shows were like this.  I would have to guess YWT and WUWA by process of elimination. :P  (But that might not be right.)
They may have just expanded over to the morning shows this morning.

I saw a 2 min flavor at 28/58 past on YWT this morning so they're still showing there.

On the topic of air quality, I thought I remember seeing a LF on YT where the AQ forecast showed a red level. I could be wrong though. This was a few years ago if I'm remembering right.

Song featured in both videos is "Takin' It Easy" by Trammell Starks. His music may not live on through TWC anymore, but it still does here.
