General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch
« on: July 20, 2012, 07:44:30 PM »
This entire situation is very troubling and upsetting and I'm not just talking about with the shooter, I'm talking about his mother also who just happens to be a psychiatric nurse so she's specialized to deal with people who suffer from or show signs of mental illness and yet her response when the police call her is, "You've got the right person." WHAT? Since I don't know any further details from that, I'll reserve any further judgement on that statement, but if she knew her son was not in the right place mentally and if she didn't try to get him any help I personally think she's as responsible for what happened as he is. Nonetheless, my heart goes out to the families of victims who were injured or killed. :( It's interesting and amazing how in tragic events like this you hear stories of how some people chose not to go somewhere or they went to this place late which altered the outcome of what might have happened to them.

In the FAQ they claim they still do OCM autographs.

Quote
We have publicity photos for most of our on camera meteorologists. Although there is no guarantee on availability or how long it might take, we do try to grant the requests we receive for autographs. For an autographed picture of your favorite OCM, please fill out the assistance request form and include both the OCM's name and your preferred mailing address, and we will process that request.

Didn't see a topic similar to this one, so I thought I'd start it off.

What is your favorite scene and/or quote from any current or former TV show, whether it's live-action or animated?

One of my favorites is from the Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror V" episode, where Homer has this toaster which is a time machine, and in one scene, he is in a world where he and his family are wealthy. He asks Marge to pass him a donut, then Marge responds "Donut? What's a donut?" Homer then screams in horror, then runs back to the basement and goes back into time again. As soon as he left, it started to rain donuts in the world which he left. That scene was a classic to me

I have that episode on DVD, but I haven't watched it in a while. That's also one of my favorite scenes also. I also like the part from that episode where he kept getting his hand stuck in the toaster.

So my list isn't too long, I'll start off with the animated stuff.

I don't think we'll have to wait a millennium for this to come true.

Man, I am so envious of Birmingham's weather right now. This is exactly the kind of rain we need for our increasing drought, it's been raining at least 3+ hours that I know of since I woke up at 9am. They are also under a flash flood warning/flood advisory.

I think that's a rather odd reason to initiate a red box since it's not something short term if you ask me.  :noexpression:

Banned because it has been overly saturated and I'm guilty of contributing. :blushing: Any old content I have will be compilation videos, it saves me time and I don't have to upload on a daily basis anymore (which I don't really like doing anyway) just once in a blue moon.

Banned for sounding like you're using an authoritative tone.

Yeah she was. She is an OCM at 11Alive News now

She probably won't be there too long I'm thinking. They hired yet another new OCM at that station last month. <_<
