You get paid $25 here for everyday you serve so if for example you go 4 days, that's $100 imp. I didn't find that out  until my grandmother told me, that was news to me. I didn't know you get paid anything at all for that matter until I got the notice in the mail imp.

At least to know it's nice that she's leaving of her own free will instead of being forced out.

They would never force her out, she's like the "Jim Cantore" of Atlanta news. Besides that station is literally like a tight knit family it would be an ultimate betrayal and raise plenty of hell with viewers believe me.

I don't know how many of you know or have heard of Monica Pearson (Kaufman) She is a true legend of Atlanta's local news at WSB-TV anchoring at that station for 37 years (July 1975-July 25, 2012) You probably noticed I have today's date in the parenthesis, well today was her very last day anchoring the 4pm and 6pm evening newscast. I'm gonna miss seeing her on a daily basis, I grew up watching this lady most of my life, were talking nearly 20 years here! She's very poise, professional, a true class act, and is truly irreplaceable. This station will never be the same without her, I almost started to cry once it sunk in for me she would no longer be there. :cry3: Her co-anchors Justin Farmer and Jovita Moore will be taking on the torch as the next generation. I have no doubt they’ll make Monica proud, they’re a great pair, but they have some MAJOR shoes to fill.
A few tidbits about her:
Broke racial barriers by becoming not only the first female news anchor, but the first black female news anchor in Atlanta changing the landscape of Atlanta's news industry.
She beat out Jane Pauley (Former TODAY show host) and get this: Oprah Winfrey for the job! Robin Roberts (GMA host) and Monica are former colleagues/friends having worked together at WSB back in the 1980s.
Has covered many major stories in the nation and around the world.
Has won 33 Emmys for her journalism work.
After retirement, she plans to attend UGA (University of Georgia) for the Fall 2012 semester to get her Masters in broadcast journalism (She already has her Bachelors) and after that become a teacher along with continuing her humanitarian work.
I'll let this video do the rest of the talking if any of you are interested in watching This is only Part 1, At the end, Diane Sawyer sends her best wishes in a video message.

General Weather Chat / Re: What's the weather in your area?
« on: July 24, 2012, 10:10:30 AM »
You wanna know what the weather's like here? Basically the same as half of this country: Terrible. Triple digits are likely to come back today (after a 19 day absence) and without a doubt tomorrow with temperatures forecasted to be in the low 100s on the south-side of town in addition to that of course a record high will be in jeopardy.

I've never taken the serious time to research, but there has always been this thing I've heard that brutally HOT summers have led to bitterly COLD winters 18 months down the road. The best example I've heard is the Summer of '83 being very hot and the Winter of '85 being very frigid (I know January that year was frigid, I did research that)

Going long range, August looks to likely pick up where May/June left off. 00z GFS last night showed two Cape Verde disturbances and both look to develop to at least TS status ("Ernesto" was a Fish storm this run while "Florence" looks like it could pose a threat to landmass further downstream that run)With that being said however, anything showing up on the Global models so far out is mainly nothing but gossip at best.

Banning you because I have to and banning myself because I passed the 5000th mark and didn't know it. It's Deja Vu all over again!

Out of the second set I posted, Abrams and Bettes: Beyond The Forecast is my absolute favorite! I was VERY disappointed to see that set go by the wayside so early. It was colorful, unique, and vibrant. It also made me thoroughly enjoy the Abrams and Bettes duo more and more. Flash forward 4 years later: I cannot stand Stephanie anymore, not sure if it's her detached chemistry with Mike since being paired with Al Roker or what, but I get annoyed watching her as of late, Mike on the other hand I enjoy seeing, he's gotten much more laid back and humorous.

But Wait! There's more!

Atmospheres (2000-2003)

Abrams and Bettes: Beyond The Forecast (September 2006 - June 2008)

Weekend View Set (It's Like Looking At A Weather Version of "The View" - Now THAT should have been their signature slogan :P

Lightning Rod with Mark Elliot and Mary Cobb (2010) Currently DMC if I'm not mistaken. On a side note, I think it's easy to see who got their demands met out of this duo, look at who has the stool to sit down on!

Wake Up With Al (July 2009 - Present I know it's not technically in ATL, but I threw it in anyway since it is apart of TWC)

General Discussion / What Studio Set of TWC Do/Did You Like The Best?
« on: July 23, 2012, 08:55:39 PM »
Random topic, I know. It's just something that crossed my mind today, but I'm curious to know, what set in your opinion was the best and why? I'm no history buff when it comes to all the sets, so if I missed one or I have the years they were in use incorrect, please correct me. I would say my favorite is a tie betweenThe Forecast Center Set and the March 1997 set because that dang globe, it looks so cool spinning in the background.

May 1982 - 1986??? First Set, Simple and Clean

A Little More Lively and Colorful

Weather You Can Always Turn To In The "Forecast Center"

March 1997 - 2000??? The Infamously HUGE Golden Globe! "News-Like Set"

Let's Live By It, Yeah, Let's Do That

Let's Live By It Again! Global Forecasting Center Takes Center Stage

August 2005 - August 2008 Global Forecasting Center As The Backdrop

June 2008 - Present The Weather Has Never Looked Better in HIGH DEFINITION!

Were getting awfully close to tying a record high and hitting the century mark again today...97 at Hartsfield Int'l
Record - 100 set back in 1952 and here I was foolishly thinking the triple digits were gone for good.

Were running a good 5-7 degrees warmer than forecasted.
