Did you recently just get a Wii U? I don't think the Splatoon bundle has been out that long. Speaking of Splatoon, is it good? I've been on the fence about getting this game since it came out. Splatoon may be the first and only Wii U game where I haven't heard any negative reviews (so far). It's great to see a new first party IP from Nintendo doing so well, hopefully they're experiment with more new IPs. Also half of your Wii U games I've been on the fence about. (Super Mario Maker, Yoshi's Wolly World, DKC: Tropical Freeze, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker) The only one I think I can guarantee I'll get is Super Mario Maker.

I traded in my Xbox One this past Friday to Gamestop for store credit which I used to pay 2/3 of the cost toward a Playstation 4 instead. I really liked the Xbox One, but I didn't love it. Ah well, I took a risk/chance since I never played/owned any Xbox system prior it just didn't pay off for me unfortunately.

Just an update to my list...new stuff is in bold blue.

New Nintendo 3DS XL
Digital Downloads (Nintendo eShop App)
-Mario Kart 7
-A couple of Cooking Mama games for my niece to play since she likes cooking games in general.

I look at all these speeds and I think to myself, Damn, Google Fiber can't get up and running in Atlanta soon enough! I'm stuck with this stupid DSL from AT&T which is about as reliable as using a shoelace for a drinking straw. I can't get U-Verse because it's not available in my zip code area.

To pick up back on the conversation about The Splat from the FP, it is going to be a programming block on Nickelodeon. It's supposed to start sometime this month. I kinda find this news to be a bit disappointing. Also, don't they technically already air 90's shows from Nickelodeon on Teennick? I think it would have been better to relaunch their sister channel, Nicktoons as The Splat, but that's just my opinion.

Hmm, I didn't see Kim on today, however I am surprised to see Alexandra Steele is on doing the weather forecast tonight...

Hurricane Central / Major Hurricane Joaquin
« on: September 30, 2015, 11:23:16 PM »
I know it's been dead here lately, but I don't know how in the world we've gone this long without talking about this BEAST of a hurricane which is a potential threat for everyone from GA to New England. Flooding will likely be the biggest headline come this weekend/next week if model guidance is correct on the track. Joaquin is expected to peak to Category 4 intensity (140mph) before weakening to a Category 2 approaching the NC/VA border this weekend according to NHC's current 11pm track.

11PM Track (Time Sensitive)

OCMs & Personalities / Kim Cunningham Freelancing as Weekend Met in Atlanta
« on: September 30, 2015, 01:37:42 PM »
I saw someone mention this at another forum and had to look it up for myself, but according to this article I did find, Kim Cunningham is freelancing as a weekend met for Atlanta's CBS affiliate WGCL-TV (a.k.a CBS46) According to the article, the previous weekend met Paul Ossman was promoted to weekday mornings to tag team with the current weekday morning met Jennifer Valdez which left the weekend slot open. Like the article mentions if CBS46 is smart, they would keep Kim.

EDIT: She also confirmed the news on FB a couple of days ago...

Welcome to the forums Nova!

How do you explain AMHQ Weekend then?  WCL was dropped for AMHQ Weekend months ago.

The way you explain it is it's easier and convenient to take an existing weekday show and expand it to weekends rather than having to create a bunch of brand new shows from scratch as long as a specific person's name isn't attached to the show like WUWA for example. Also I forgot there was even a weekend edition of AMHQ, I haven't seen/watched TWC since November last year. AMHQ having a weekend edition show is beside the point I was making anyway. My point was I thought it was a little odd to yank Sam Champion from a show that was originally developed for him (well before this weekend expansion) when he joined TWC last year that's all.

177
All of this sounds encouraging, but talk is cheap. Let's see if TWC can put their money where their mouth is. I know I'm being the Debbie Downer, but I'm not all that convinced to be honest. I feel like we've seen this song and dance before...(*cough* *cough* DirecTV)

Also I think it's pretty obvious to say once Sam Champion's contract is up, he's gone too. This risky venture TWC took on Champion because of his popularity/weather fame on Good Morning America clearly backfired badly and it seems like they're trying to save face by sticking him "somewhere" on the schedule until they run the clock out because they don't want to admit AMHQ was a failure. (at least compared to WUWA) Anybody find it odd that they're booting Champion from AMHQ, but they're keeping the name? Eventhough Champion's name is not anchored to it in the same way WUWA was for Al Roker, it seems weird to me to keep the name when the show essentially revolved around Champion. I guess it's weird only for the simple fact of him still being there in some capacity afterwards.

Programming and Graphics / Re: Cancelled: Wake Up With Al
« on: September 01, 2015, 10:23:52 PM »
Not gonna lie, I'm kinda surprised by this one.

I feel like Stephanie will be on AMHQ as well.

Either that or worse case scenario is she'll be on the chopping block as well.

It seems like TWC is running into financial problems, resulting in these recent cuts (which, as I look back on an AdWeek article from April, is true).  They are wanting to sell portions of their company, they perhaps laid off another veteran OCM, and they cancelled WUWA because the show "resulted in expensive production costs."

That makes sense, other than maybe AMHQ, I would assume WUWA was TWC's most expensive show to produce. I would imagine it cost a lot of money to broadcast out of state from the main HQ than it would be in-house here in Atlanta.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Vivian Brown DONE at TWC
« on: September 01, 2015, 10:08:17 PM »
Another great veteran OCM likely let go by TWC. Sadly, I am not surprised at this. This leaves Jim Cantore & Mike Seidel as the remaining pre-1999 OCMs. I haven't seen Seidel on air in a while. I wonder if he's next. I wish Vivian good luck in the future.

http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/vivian-brown-makes-emotional-exit-from-weather-channel/270982

"The Weather Channel told TVNewser “Vivian Brown is indeed leaving The Weather Channel. We are grateful for her many contributions during almost 30 years with the network. She is a part of the Weather family, and we wish her all the best.”"

Heh, I forgot about Mike Seidel. Yeah he's definitely next. They're not gonna touch Cantore, if he leaves it'll be on his own accord unless he does something incredibly stupid to ruin the network's reputation (albeit, the bar is not set that high to do that anyway). :P

Also, I think Jen Carfagno has been working at TWC as far back as 1997, so she would be considered in that pre-1999 camp.

Back on Topic: I'm sorry to hear Vivan Brown has left, she was one of my favorites to watch, if she decides to stay in the business, she'll land right back on her feet someplace great.
