Has anybody seen Lowry over the past 24 hours?

He's on right now with Greg talking about storm surge.

I noticed the 7 Day Forecast maps on air have been updated to include fronts/high pressure symbols on it. It looks terrible and makes the maps overall look more cluttered than they already were. I hope they get rid of that soon, it's very unnecessary imo.

Maybe they're trying to recall the old-fashioned surface maps from many years ago, with green/white/orange speckles for precipitation, isobars, and fronts with pressure systems also indicated.

That would be fine if they didn't also have city names and if I remember correctly from when I saw it temperatures for specific cities labeled on the map. That's what makes it look messy and cluttered to me.

I am not a fan of Windows 8 - it seems more suitable for a tablet. In my oh-so very humble opinion, Microsoft is taking a gamble with this. If sales don't come through as they hope, Microsoft may face some really hard times ahead - I wouldn't be half-surprised to see the company go under.

Wow, that's a bold statement. :o You don't really think that can happen do you?

Speaking of going under, I don't get why folks including Apple are surprised the new mini iPad isn't selling as well as they expected.

Programming and Graphics / Re: Morning & Dayside revamp

There's probably going to be more changes to that line up, I doubt that's the final schedule. That article made such an emphasis on the daytime lineup being completely revamped like the quote below...

Quote
The details on the dayside lineup are scarce, but Weather acting head of TV Sharon Scott said at the meeting that the network will be moving to a new talk show format during dayside early next year.

I highlighted this because it leads me to believe longform will be temporary in the 2-5pm timeslot.

Local Forecast / Re: Song ID Thread
« on: October 26, 2012, 10:38:46 PM »
At 5:28pm ET/ 4:28pm CT there was a new song I haven't heard on the LF. Sounded like a doomsday instrumental. Anybody else hear it or happen to record it?
My Name is Lincoln - Steve Jablonsky
So have they gone all instrumental again? I havent heard that song since the Isaac instrumental list
Definitely not. The same couple of songs seem to be playing over and over and over. I'm tired of hearing depressing songs, getting a ticket and disappearing, and a song about diamonds. I was a fan of vocal music... but it's starting to wear on me and I'm gonna need to turn the channel, or they're going to need to play My Name is Lincoln only. It was very doomsday-esque and appropriate for the storm situation happening.

And "Armory" by Daft Punk, it has an ominous mood for an approaching hurricane.

They're gonna go Irene Redux by this weekend, I can already see it. If they do I only have one request....

Please put Cantore somewhere exciting this time! His legendary talents reporting out in hurricanes was totally wasted not being somewhere like NC or VA where the real excitement was taking place during Irene. Eric and Mike made what Jim went through in NYC look like a Summertime rainstorm. I know why they sent him to NYC in the first place because of the earlier doomsday projections from the models and mainly for ratings sake, but they were gonna get high ratings regardless because they always do so I saw no sense in him staying up there.

I haven't done any research into these, but I've been hearing similarities between Sandy and "The Perfect Storm (1991)" and Hurricane Hazel (1954) being buzzed up. I didn't expect it to go through rapid intensification to become a Cat. 2 right now. Cat. 3 status is certainly not out of the question before weakening as it heads NNE then back NNW.

This thing wound up pretty fast, Sunday it looked like crap. Three days later after having phone/internet service again, it caught me by surprise to see were talking about a hurricane. Sandy is certainly one of the best looking hurricanes I've seen all hurricane season.

Romney must feel pretty darn good about GA because I've only seen Pro Obama ads here since the campaign, unfortunately Romney will win us. This state hasn't been blue since Clinton.

Also it feels good to have phone/internet service again!
