The song info is in the description (Frank Danna - "Caribbean Moon Light"), but I looked it up and couldn't find anything. Is this person using a different alias or is this song not available commercially?  :dunno:

Local Forecast / Re: Smooth Jazz Return!
« on: March 13, 2016, 03:49:29 PM »
Before I give my thoughts on this, I wanna say if they choose to play nothing but the 24 songs from both smooth jazz CDs for the next couple of years, it will still be a solid playlist with little to no complaints if you ask me.

I'm not surprised about the smooth jazz developments because I think the fact that they brought back a Christmas/Holiday playlist for the first time in 2 years was the first major clue that this was going to happen. Unless I missed any discussion beforehand about it, the holiday playlist returning seemed kinda out of left field back in December.

I also agree that I'm confused about what there is to experiment/test. It's not like TWC has never played this genre of music before. Last time I checked you guys have played smooth jazz music for the better part of nearly THREE decades. I seriously doubt viewers have become sour or turned off by it because of a 2-4 year hiatus.

(I'm pretty sure they're more than likely complaining about the repetition of production music the past couple of years than they ever would about smooth jazz returning.)  ;)

Programming and Graphics / Re: 23.5 Degrees with Sam Champion

They showed a sneak peek of this show on GMA this morning. Sam said it should start the third week in March on TWC.

Those graphics look kinda boring and lackluster in my opinion. This concept would have been much better:

Well that's a major understatement Jim.

Seriously though, this is another example of one of those things I find to be extremely annoying about TWC. They always come up with awesome prototypes like this and then they take 10 steps back. It really boggles my mind.

If you were to ask me what version of this LocalNow was the final product, I would assume it was the video Jim posted because it looks a million times better.

So um.....this happened. I forgot noaa.gov was getting a site redesign. It looks really nice and clean.

I agree with Tyler, I'm not impressed either. I think it could use some "touching up". Since it's still early, I guess it's still possible some things graphically/timing will change.

General Discussion / Re: My Scripted Series
« on: February 03, 2016, 08:38:42 PM »
Never satisfied apparently, I settled on another design style. No more last minute changes, I'm about 100% positive the second and fourth designs will be the final look.  :)

Also, this won't have any impact in delaying my progress, everything is still on track.

Well it shouldn't come to any surprise that I obviously was wrong on this. Reasoning for this big delay has been because I'm still experimenting with how to animate this cartoon plus sometimes life just gets in the way just because it can. <_< I've tried everything from the puppet method to the Duik script. The latter of which I liked the best, but it's too time consuming for each individual character. I think I've figured out a similar, but easier method for me to animate. Because of this, I can only go with a premiere date of TBD:(

Plus I'm still working on the voice acting, like I said about the animation, this is a one man show for me. I had to write an alternate script where there are no females that will be heard or seen since I can't do female voices (not convincingly anyway). :P

In the meantime, here's another graphical update of the main character, he's a little less stiff than before, in addition to rockin' some dope new kicks. :D

Local Forecast / Re: Song ID Thread

The actual name of this song is "I Love This Song" by Gary Brown. This is on the same album as the song, "My Heaven" a.k.a "Pleasant Days" by Bobby Love/Robert Mclaughlin which was discovered back in 2014.

Track #11

I should mention Kelly Cass has been freelancing for our local NBC affiliate WXIA throughout the holidays, I've seen her a few times on air since around Christmas.  :)

Apparently Rich Johnson is now currently freelancing at WAGA-TV (FOX 5 Atlanta). He is on this evening filling in for chief meteorologist David Chandley who has the holiday off.

General Weather Chat / Re: Lack of cold east of the Rockies
« on: December 14, 2015, 09:35:57 PM »
It's really a combination of all kinds of factors, some I know of from reading from other wx forums, but can't thoroughly explain because of my limited knowledge. I can say in addition to a +NAO, we've been having a -PNA (which usually promotes western troughs) and a +AO (which usually promotes ridging for the eastern US).

Also most forecasters expected December to be warm for the eastern half of the US, the problem is December may end up warmer than what was initially anticipated. Unless there's another hidden monkey wrench in the works later down the road, we should begin to see a pattern flip sometime in January, when exactly is the million dollar question. Our Super El Nino is also expected to begin weakening as we head into the heart of winter.

All we can do now is sit back and watch and see what 2016 will bring.

TWC Fan Art / Re: Weatherlover's Artwork

My first successful attempt at the XLv3 in after effects (still a work in progress as evidenced in the video). I used Denver as the test city because of Winter Storm Ajax. The song used is one of my favorites from the November/December 2009 playlist called, "Peace Waltz" by Lenny Marcus, the song certainly has a wintry feel to it.

TWC Today News / Re: Martin's passing and the future of TWC Today
« on: November 16, 2015, 05:17:26 PM »
I am very grateful to see that the administration and moderation team are working together to preserve the forums in honor of Martin. I think Martin would be very proud.

What's also amazing is that we all came back to these forums after YEARS of inactivity to pay tribute. I mean seriously, I haven't seen the majority of you in forever, and that included Martin. I only briefly kept in touch with him on Facebook. It makes me happy to see everyone of you again to pay respects to our wonderful friend.

Of course, I'm pretty emotional every time I come here, as it reminds me of the good time we all had with Martin. He kept this place alive and you can tell he had such enthusiasm with meteorology. We were all cheering him on for pursuing a meteorological career. He had potential and guts. He will never ever be forgotten in our community. <3

I know this is way late and overdue, but I couldn't agree more. R.I.P Martin and my sincerest condolences to his family. :(

General Discussion / Re: Gas prices in your area

Were about a dollar cheaper on average here in Atlanta ($2.19/gal). There was some places that had/have dropped below $2/gal this month though.
