I'm very bothered and concerned by TWC choosing to have their forecast disregard our NWS office's Freezing Rain Advisory because they are going to be held responsible for purposely creating confusion among the public here if they look at the local news media outlets and hear, "Freezing Rain possible on Friday" and yet they look at TWC and all they'll see is "49 degrees and rain". Granted, confidence is low in how severe ice will be if it accumulates or whether it occurs at all, however, if TWC had any common sense they would cover their behinds and have their forecast somewhat reflect the NWS just in case it turns out worse than expected.

I know TWC isn't affiliated with the NWS like they were in the 80s, 90s, and 00s, but shouldn't they still be coordinating with them in situations like this anyway so they can prevent confusion?

EDIT: Here's a snippet of what is our NWS office's justification for the Freezing Rain Advisory and worse case scenario concerns. Hmm...I wonder if those thoughts in red ever crossed their minds at TWC.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA
319 PM EST THU JAN 24 2013

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/...

...WINTER WEATHER POSSIBLE FRIDAY ACROSS NORTHERN AND PORTIONS OF
CENTRAL GEORGIA...

.SHORT TERM...
WITH THAT ALL BEING SAID THERE ARE A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT STILL
CONCERN ME ABOUT THIS FORECAST.
1. WE HAVE VERY LOW DEWPOINT TEMPERATURES ACROSS NORTHERN GEORGIA.
MODEL SOUNDINGS DEPICT A SHALLOW DRY LAYER AT THE SURFACE.  AS
PRECIPITATION FALLS INTO THIS LAYER...THIS LAYER COULD COOL FASTER
THAN FORECAST.  THIS PRECIPITATION MAY ALSO LEAD TO A STRENGTHEN OF
THE OVERALL CAD.  IF THIS IS THE CASE...MORE ICE COULD ACCUMULATE
THAN FORECAST...ESPECIALLY ACROSS NW GA AND METRO AREA.

52, Partly Cloudy skies

Freezing Rain Advisory now in effect.

EDIT: I should mention it's currently a battle between TWC and our NWS office. TWC did a 180 and are forecasting rain while once again our NWS office is being very bullish instead of ultra conservative as they have been in the past. It'll be interesting to see who turns out right.

19.4°F Mostly Cloudy

NWS has me down to 8°F tonight. 7°F tomorrow night! Oh boy... :brr: :brr: :brr: :brr: :brr: :brr: :brr: :brr: :brr:

Another arctic blast that's giving us the cold shoulder (no pun intended)  :( We reached our coldest night this winter of 29 yesterday night. PATHETIC. Even for Southern standards.  <_< I need to move a little further north.

Currently: 56, sunny (Forecasted high BUSTED by about 5-7 degrees, warmer than expected)

I would love to see some weather like that (except the freezing rain/sleet). It's been exactly a decade (Jan '03) since we had single digit lows here too so I wouldn't mind seeing that either if it means shattering some record lows.

A Falcons fan got his throat slashed open in the GA Dome parking lot for talking a lot of smack to a 49ers fan afterwards. Great sportsmanship. :itsok:

I like how after the lost, the so called fans who are actually fakes are the first to trash talk the Falcons as a sorry team because they lost knowing full well they didn't give a crap about them to begin with.

That production music they used on the LOT8s intro during Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy I heard it on a MSNBC commercial when they were advertising President Obama's second inauguration on Monday.

Interesting... If anyone has been following the models lately, the GFS/ECMWF have been night and day past this weekend...

From the HPC today
GFS/ECMWF OPERATIONALS WERE IN GOOD AGREEMENT TO DAY 4.5 (22/00Z)
WITH THE CORE OF THE ARCTIC AIRMASS SLOWLY MIGRATING
EAST-NORTHEASTWARD FROM THE UPPER MS VALLEY TO MAINE AND NORTHERN
NEW ENGLAND. THERE ARE FEW DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THESE 2 PIECES OF
GUIDANCE WITH THIS OVERALL AREAL SPREAD OF THIS MODIFIED ARCTIC
BOUNDARY THROUGH DAY 6 IN THE MIDWEST...EAST...SOUTHEAST...AND
WITH A GRADUAL WARMUP FROM WEST TO EAST ACROSS THE
NORTHERN/CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS. BY DAY 4...THERE IS REASONABLE
EVIDENCE OF A COASTAL WAVE DEVELOPING ATOP THIS SLOPED ARCTIC
FRONT...AND BENEATH A COMPLEX 250MB JET STRUCTURE EAST OF THE
MISSISSIPPI RIVER. ENOUGH SUPPORT/EVIDENCE DURING THE LAST 48
HOURS TO REQUEST A SERIES OF NOAA G4 WINTER RECON FLIGHTS TO
SAMPLE THE NORTH CENTRAL PACIFIC BETWEEN HAWAII AND ALASKA.
