To be honest, I havent seen TWC truly jump the shark. When they do some news, they can apply some sort of weather into it.
picture was funny.But to be honest, I think TWC reached its peak durring the second half of the "Live By It" campaign (circa 2003-05). Ever since the relaunch, TWC wasn't the same. One thing that I've always hated since the relaunch is that they would always play that annoying "Storm Alert" music durring hurricane coverage. I personaly don't like it. I also hate those annoying lower thirds and the idea of playing documentries and movies instead of having weather coverage.

« on: August 07, 2010, 08:11:47 PM »I always woundered what had happened durring the Local Forecasts if the local WeatherSTAR fails back in 1982-85.1985. Cable was installed in my neighborhood, I noticed there was a Weather Channel and I started watching. There were some really nice backgrounds used during the locals in the 1986-1987 general time period (some stationary, others in motion) until they were later discontinued.
Finally... someone who's been watching longer than I have!
As I understand it, the backgrounds were discontinued because many people found it difficult to read the WeatherStar III's text over them. However, I think the backgrounds were also for the benefit of (the few, at the time) satellite viewers or those whose WeatherStar was malfunctioning. Back then, there wasn't the "Travel Cities Forecast" on the national feed, so, without the backgrounds, you just saw a black picture while hearing the local forecast music (and narration!).

I used to have TWC on Channel 45 until on April 1st, 2010, Comcast removed it from our lineup because they wanted us to upgrade to this 'digital' whatever package thing.I wounder if they are dropping all of their analog cable channels? Our Comcast did the same thing two years ago in my area. They still have TWC at least, but no WxScan or TWC HD.
We are thinking about switching to Dish Network or to a local cable company that is being used to a town next to us.
The thing is, I think most cable companys are reqiured to transfer their analog cable channels to digital begining in 2012 (kind of like what happen with the digital TV transition for broadcast stations).

Mostly discovered it by accident; although urban legend is that it was pure luck, as on the cable lineup (TCI...remember them?) TWC was channel 28 and Nickelodeon channel 29.Wow, you cable system was alot like ours back then too. TCI used to be in our area too. On our lineup, TWC used to be located on channel 36 while Nickelodeon was (and still is) on 35. TWC is now on channel 2 on Comcast in our area. For me, my earliest memory of watching TWC dates back to sometime around 1991 too. I can't remember exactly, but I do sort of remember that one day in 1991, there was severe weather and we were living at our old house at the time. Our old house didn't have a basement and there was a tornado that was close to our town. I remember watching TWC along with our WeatherSTAR 3000. (we didn't get the 4000 until 1993). I've always have been interested in weather as well as computers and that was the perfect mix.
So I've watched TWC for about 20 years!
Today, I rarely watch it ever since the 2005 relaunch. I miss the old TWC...

That's really sad to hear this. He had been with the network since its launch. I liked watching Bill Keneely. 
I would also have to agree with Beanboy89 for mentioning that if Jim and all of the other good OCMs leaves the network, TWC won't be the same. I rarely watch TWC these days ever since the big relaunch five years ago.

That is so cool! That is my all-time favorite model of the WeatherSTARs. 
Two questions that I also want to add:
1. Where did you get this?
2. If you plug it in and try to hook all of the cables up, what will it happen if you try to run it? Can you post video of it booting up?
