OMG

Tony gave my friend a timeframe!

Quote
the new HD Locals will be rolling out later this Spring, I’ll know the schedule in about a month.  Check with me in a month or so and I can let you know when your system is starting them.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I don't like either of them to be honest. Just give me new episodes of L&O:SVU and I'm content.

My Traffic Map is gone

Is anyone else's map gone?
When data is unavailable, it won't display. Additionally, they are also taken down for routine maintenance.

Local Forecast / Re: Intellistar- Do you like the current version?

The current version is ugly... it's that simple. It doesn't match the current on-air look. Needs a definite makeover.
Woah, I thought you said you liked the intellistar! :o
You misunderstood me. I still like the IntelliStar - it's the look I don't like.

Everything Else TWC / Re: TWC Mobile Still Using XL Icons?

They're considered different products, so the new icons aren't a priority (just as with the moon icons on the almanac on the IntelliStar).

It won't be regionalized. Products will be local - just like they are now.

Interesting... the Pittsburgh regional map was updated today, removing Elkins WV, replacing it with Clarksburg WV, and adding Washington DC.
Interesting, I always love seeing changes like that. Not sure why Elkins was removed, that was fine as it was. DC was a smart addition though. Can you get a clip?

Elkins was a horrible choice for a regional map city - it only has around 7,000 people! Clarksburg is a much better choice since it's more heavily traveled through than Elkins (Clarksburg sits on I-79).

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: TWC gone digital

Well, with Verizon, every TV requires at least a converter, but those are $3.99/mo, so we just use a regular STB for all our TVs ($5.99/mo) so they all have the guides, On Demand, widgets, etc.

It happened some time ago to most of the Comcast headends in Pittsburgh, with the exception of the former Adelphia headends. Luckily I don't have to worry about that, because we have Verizon.

I figured a new weather.com had to be in the works. It's outdated and ugly. Hopefully NBC spices it up!

Edit: It appears, through a google search, the link for the beta site is this: i.imwx.com/common/beta/entry.html?next=
but it won't load for me

General Discussion / Re: The Pot Belly Stove

It's a sad day locally. A Penn Hills Police officer was basically ambushed last night while responding to a domestic violence call. He was shot while sitting in his patrol car awaiting backup. This hits home really hard because I know quite a few of the officers with the department (about 30 officers). I didn't know him personally, but this is a shame. Earlier this year 3 officers were killed in the City of Pittsburgh, where they were also ambushed when responding to a call.

All local media outlets have coverage, but here's a link to just one of KDKA's reports. There's multiple videos to watch on their site.

The whole economy excuse is complete B.S. An anchor on the news mentioned that. Just because the economy is bad doesn't give you the right to take someone's life.
