The units aren't capable of producing the TWC feed. It's the cable company simulcasting TWC on the channel Weatherscan is supposed to be on.

Even if The LDL was to use the Radar on the bottom left side (like the LDA does) i think it would be an awesome fit.

Hopefully that is in the works Below is my take on what the LDL might look like full time.

The blank area where you put the radar  is for ads.

While I like the new LDL, I think as far as usefulness is concerned, the LDA is far more useful. It has radar, a nowcast, etc. The LDL just has current weather and a 2 day.

It's kinda bad for me which makes sense since I supported the longer school day idea. Socially, where will kids hang out and such outside of school?

I don't really understand your post, but if I'm right, I think you're saying what will kids do on the weekday while not in school? Well I suppose they would hang out the same way they would on weekends.

Not exactly. The products might be similar, but the design is definitely different. I can tell you for sure there is no city back drop on the CC screen.

I think if it saves money, and improves student and teacher attendance, and test scores, then it's a great idea. The students will still get the same amount of educational time, just in 4 days rather than 5, so I don't see the harm, except for parents who need daycare for children on the certain weekday where school will no longer be in session, but it seems that wasn't a huge deal in the Georgia district mentioned in the article.

Al's correct, that STAR was just a test, not even a beta really. It will look nothing like the actual HD STAR.

It actually debuted yesterday or the day before, I can't remember. And it seems they're only using it during long form, for now anyway.

Sorry for the double post, but does this mean the HD STAR is in the VERY near future?????   

They have nothing to do with each other. Two different departments handle the HD STAR and the HD national displays.

So why exactly is Jim doing the narration?  I think his voice is more for like, severe weather...not reading the current conditions.

How about really to yourself.  At least he had something to say related to the topic.  Not just trying to pick a fight...

I'm not trying to pick a fight. It's long been established that people find the narration very useful, so I don't see how anyone can be surprised the HD STAR would indeed have narration.

Jeff Morrow was out today, and Bill Keneely was filling in. Surprisingly, he did just fine, and sounded as if he too was from Pittsburgh (knowing all the roads, bridges, tunnels, etc).

The first half of that open was definitely  part of MSNBC's tropical graphics last year, and if not, they're very similar.
