General Discussion / Election Day Discussion & Coverage

I know some of you aren't old enough to vote, but may still take an interest in politics. So, if you are eligible to vote, will you tomorrow?

I already did my absentee ballot and returned it. In Pennsylvania, there are a few big races being watched. Governor Rendell is not running for reelection, and it's a pretty close race between (D) Dan Onorato and (R) Tom Corbett, who surprisingly are both from Pittsburgh. Dan Onorato is the current Allegheny County Executive, and Tom Corbett the current Attorney General. The other big race is the (R) Pat Toomey and (D) Joe Sestak, which in my opinion is also too close to call.

What are the big races in your area?

Something I whipped up today, and I'll work on some more tonight. This is just the CC screen.

test1

Hopefully after the video finishes being processed, the beginning will fix itself.

So, did anyone hear that Verizon is coming out with the iPhone 4 next year? I confirmed it with Verizon representatives.
I'm sure you did.

Like I said I just threw this together. Already fixed the spacing issues, and the reason there are no icons is I don't have them on this laptop.

That really doesn't mean anything. She could be ill. She could have a lot of vacation days. But the fact that my source just won't discuss the matter says to me that she was definitely let go.

I asked someone familiar with the issue today: "Sorry, but I can't confirm or deny that. It's policy not to discuss personnel matters."

I don't know about you folks, but I'll take that as a confirmation. Steele has officially been let go.

I loved trick-or-treating when I was little, then at about 13 I stopped. Then around 15 or 16 I started going with friends again, but not dressing up. Then I dressed up for senior year in high school, but didn't trick-or-treat.

Oh, btw, Halloween in college is completely different. :P Guys all try to dress up and go as a theme (That 70s Show, the Flintstones, etc), and girls are usually dressed slutty. There's often themes like "CEOs and Business Hoes," "Romeo and Juliet," etc. And instead of candy, there's jello shots and jungle juice.

I think this is kinda neat. A local restaurant chain, Eat 'n Park, has been taking steps to go green for years now, with a lot of it's tables and such in new restaurants being built from recycled materials. But now, they are installing a wind turbine on their new Fox Chapel location. As someone who works in a large chain restaurant, we waste a LOT. All of our food is portioned in the mornings in plastic bags, used once, and thrown away. We don't recycle anything... all of our beer bottles (literally hundreds per night) are just thrown away, etc. So I appreciate anything Eat 'n Park does to go green.

I had some free time tonight and came up with this, and I think I'm gonna run with it. Although I think there's too much info on this screen, so I'll probably have it show 4 local obs at a time, then swap out for 4 more. Also working on some spacing issues - I don't like how close the boxes are to the top and bottom of the screen.

well, do you think it has something to do with privacy within the company? perhaps OCM's aren't allowed to say someone was let go?
Most likely. TWC can't publically discuss personel matters.

Ok so I was just going through Egger's Facebook reading comments, and found something interesting. She says a few times "filling in" on Weather Center, long after we started speculating Alex was let go.

On October 12 @ 6:10pm, she commented on a wall post and said "...back to filling in on nights today-Friday"
On October 12 at 6:14pm, she commented on a wall post and said "...I'm filling in on the night shows this week, Tuesday-Friday. 7 to 10pm eastern"

Also, someone posted and asked if Egger knocked Alex out of the line up, and Egger responded and said "Hi John, I'm just filling in where I'm needed. I'll be on Day Planner with Samantha Mohr on Monday."
