IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: IntelliStar 2 Beta Launch

On the topic of holiday names, the forecast doesn't always get read during the LOT8's when it's a holiday. MLK day forecast never got read out loud at all.

They probably didn't record the holiday names, and so when the page came up, there wasn't any vocal to start it with, so nothing got read.
The holidays are recorded and are supposed to be read. MLKD not being read was an error.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Blooper Thread

The LDLs (for both SD and HD) are all screwed up right now. I think they are showing current conditions from sometime last night (because it is NOT 27 and mostly clear here right now), and Friday's forecast (with no high) is showing.
Thats IMO why i think running LDLs VIZ|RT is a bad idea :bleh:
The use of Vizrt had nothing to do with it. The issue all had to deal witha  network failure within TWC.

My guess would be Crystal and Chris were scheduled to do the one hour live WC blocks, and due to contract obligations, it was easier for TWC to bring in Kim and Todd to do the block that was scheduled for long form.

My thoughts on TV in schools is this.. no MSNBC, no FOX, TWC, CNBC, or anything. No TV at all! Focus on education.

We've got several TVs in our cafeteria at school, and the Student Senate is smart enough to keep them off the extreme-o channels (FOX and MSNBC). They're usually on CNN, ESPN, or local channels.
yea thats what I was referring to earlier. MSNBC seems a bit extreme for public school.
MNSBC is extreme? What about FOX? :smoke2:

TWC Fan Art / Re: Tyler's HD Concepts
« on: January 30, 2011, 03:28:48 PM »
After looking at the image, I decided to scrap the circles in the middle, as I felt they were too distracting.

Hey tyler, what is the name of the font you used in this concept?
I used Interstate, and believe it or not, just Arial on these concepts. I did, however, change the spacing and proportions to my meet my liking.

That radar was being used throughout the day today because of a TWC outage (which also caused the current products and radar outages on the WeatherSTARs and weather.com).

Local Forecast / Re: Local on the 8s split screen
« on: January 25, 2011, 05:58:53 PM »
This is just a test. It will have local information overlayed when it is used starting January 31.

On both SD and HD feeds?

Will this split screen be used only for longform programming, as I heard about, or will it be used during weather programming, too?

Yes the SD and HD IntelliStars will both overlay local data, and it will only be used during long form.

Agreed Martin. For example, my Aunt is a teacher, and the district she teaches in just bought 50 iPads. Talk about a horrible/expensive investment. As far as I'm concerned they have no educational benefit.

Just gonna throw this out there... unemployment may be at 9.6%, but the Obama administration created more jobs last year than Bush did in his 8 year term.
Awesome. Now if only Obama could stop Christie from eliminating practically millions of jobs and his cuts in education here in NJ. <_<
The federal government can't do that. It's the state's right to cut back whatever services they see fit or can no longer afford. Although it saddens me to say this, as long as the state meets federal mandates for education, the state can cut back as much as it wants.

It's not that they are avoiding Comcast, its just a compatibility issues. Sorry, but I can't really get into it.

Can you at least give us an approximate timeline?
There is no timeline.
