Other things I've noticed through the day:

1) The date is no longer displayed. I will have them note that I, for one, found it useful. Not sure if the removal of the date was intentional or not.
2) Air Quality and the UV Index are only displayed every few rotations. This needs to be looked at.
3) Incidents aren't displaying, even though they are supposed to.
4) Travel Cities, Airport Delays, and the 3 Day forecast are now shown all day, which I don't mind.

Update: I'm seeing several counties are missing from the tornado watch on the LDL. This also appears to be a bug. Westmoreland, Greene, and Indiana counties are all missing.

In answer to your question, no, the icons don't animate.

I'm seeing the LDL live this morning with new stuff:

1) The almanac data on the LDL has been expanded away from just sunrise/sunset data, to now include monthly precip average and avg high temp for the day.
2) The LDL has a 3 day forecast on  it. This may just be a AM feature, though.
3) I'm not seeing Air Quality or UV Outlooks, so I'll report it as a bug.
4) Today's Forecast shows words instead of an icon, which is nice: "SCT'D T'STROMS, A FEW STORMS MAY BE SEVERE. HIGH 76." This also may be just a morning feature.

Seeing a tornado watch now on the LDL now... I like how it's tabbed in there with the other forecast data.

Is anyone seeing their LDL during national right now? Or is it just me not seeing it?

I've seen it first hand, only on the LF right now, as it's not showing during national programming for some reason (megamanfan, have you seen it during national?). Here are my initial observations (it's slightly different than the TWCT pics I posted):

1) There is animation, which I like. The LDL animated in... the tabs animate, and glow when the tab which is meant to be in focus moves left.
2) The Local Ad Crawl is nicer, with smaller font, and, surprisingly, I really like how it looks. I hope the watch/warn/advisory crawls aver very similar.
3) The time AND temp are now shown on the bar at the same time.
4) The data animates downwards, like the Satellite HD LDL.
5) It seems the monthly precip isn't showing during the LF for some reason. That's a bug I'll have to report.
6) The icons really need to be larger.
7) The pressure indicator has been fixed! No more tiny arrows you can't see.

And, as stated, it doesn't match the current LF look that well, but, it's a GREAT improvement, IMO.

Why would TWC Today come to an end? I'm hoping this is just another case of Vic having no idea what he;s talking about.

DING DING DING We have a winner! :twothumbs:

Congraddddulations Gary! You've just won an all-expenses paid trip to... well, never mind. You get the idea.  Plus, I'm cheap as hell. :P

They look great! So they will be on all STARs on June 2nd?
Can you not read? I already stated that answer.

Sorry I didn't get to vote, Tyler. Thanks very much for sharing your mock-ups!  Wow, those are great upgrades! Cannot wait to see it for real in the future.
Those aren't mocks by me... those are the official mocks out of the TWC Art Dept.

Today on TWC, I noticed a new LDL for the IntelliStar. That LDL is a steap foreward for The Weather Channel into high defination. :) If you have any comments about the new LDL, post it here.

Do you by chance have any screens/vids of it? :) I'm anxious, lol, and can't wait til tomorrow night to see. :P

Since the LDL has been introduced in Pittsburgh and Atlanta as beta, I can now reveal a bit if info.

As previously mentioned, its being tested on select Pittsburgh and Atlanta systems, and it's a totally new LDL. It was originally scheduled to go out overnight Monday/early Tuesday AM, but was pushed back due to technical difficulties (unknown to me at this time). It was pushed through successfully early this morning.

About the LDL... it's totally different, in a good way (unless you're expecting another XL-esque transparent LDL). It's blue, and will match the new TWC-HD style. There is no set launch date yet, and I highly doubt it will launch June 2.

Three other HUGE changes to this LDL are:
1) Interstate font goes bye-bye, to match the HD look I assume.
2) The LDL will have the capability to show conditions for 3 cities with larges DMAs/viewership areas.
3) Traffic incidents will now be shown on the LDL. I'm pretty sure the whole incident doesn't show, but rather an abbreviated version (Ie: Incident, I-376 Pkwy East at Blvd of the Allies [what shows on the heading line of the incidents page]).

No, there is no other graphic update to the domestic IS.

The only other change with this release is a bug fix for the wx bulletins screen, where occasionally, the old screen would briefly show before the new one.

Yes the warning bars have changed too, but I have no previews of them, and like I said, have yet to see the LDL in action. So I have no idea what they look like, but I'd imagine they're very similar.

For TWCClassics members... remember when I asked you to vote on whether or not you wanted more watches shown on the LDL, as Tornado and Severe Tstm Watches already do? This is why... this LDL has the capability to show more watches. The specifics are currently unknown, except Flood/Flash Flood watches will be shown. Others may come in the future.

I have not seen this in person yet, as I'm not home, and won't be til late tomorrow night. I'll *try* to get a pic or two then, unless megamanfan  can get them now? Until that point, here are the original mock ups straight out of the TWC Creative Dept. Enjoy. :)

Here's a random question... since when did the "weather.com" tag disappear from the logo that briefly shows before opens?

Thanks, SR!

Anyone have a pic of these per chance?

That way the non-HD programming looks natural, instead of being really s t r e t c h e d out.
