It looks like the new (quarter) hourly forecasts are done by TWC's new TruPoint products.

Quote
TruPoint

# A highly localized weather forecast; accurate down to a one-square mile area.
# Allows you to zero in on specific places such as schools and parks.
# Available every 15 minutes across a 6 hour period.
# Available only within the 48 contiguous United States.
# A proprietary technology developed and used exclusively by The Weather Channel.

So in other words, they're finally branding HiRAD?

These these two people need to lose their jobs: <_<

  • Heidi Cullen
  • Natalie Allen

I beg to differ. No one deserves to loose their Job. While Heidi wasn't my favorite, she wasn't the worst thing on TWC, IMO. Also, during Natalie's short tenure at TWC, she really grew on me. I did enjoy her FE presentations more than Heidi's.

Maybe this is why no replacement for Seese has been brought in... because they can't afford to hire someone. :o

And while I agree, global warming isn't going anywhere. Once the economy is stable again, I do see a Forecast Earth-esque show coming back.

Just learned from my source that about 80 people were let go total. This, he says, includes just about all of the marketing department. This information is coming from ACTUAL TWC EMPLOYEES. None of it is heresay.
That would make sense. With NBC's strong marketing department and tactics, TWC's marketing department would be one of the easiest to cut. After all, marketing doesn't have to be done within TWC - it could easily be done at NBC HQ in New York.

That's true. I never thought about that.

That's what I'm here for.

This is something I haven't seen before.... a Local Snowfall Report orange bar crawl at the bottom
That's been around for a year or two now...

Yeah, Melissa Tuttle was an apprentice OCM from 2000-2002, then she became a Weatherscan product developer IIRC.

Correct.

My source contradicts what you heard, Gary. In fact, my first guess was Cheryl, and he said that she was not included. I did ask about Dave and he "wouldn't comment," leading me to believe Dave is no more. Didn't even ask about Dennis...

Winter Weather Advisory here... NWS and Accuweather say 2-4" total; TWC says less than in inch total.

I've heard from a reliable source that nearly all departments within TWC were hit. The OCM department was hit to the tune of 4 positions, however names can't be released until Monday (so I assume their last day is Friday).  :(

Is it true that you can take additional years of high school until age 21?

Only if you fail, I assume. Plus, why would anyone do that anyway? Also, schools, at least in PA, reserve the right to ask you not to come back if you fail 12th grade (as long as you're over 18).

I applied to California University of PA, Slippery Rock, Indiana University of PA, and Clarion University of PA last Tuesday. Already, today, I got two acceptance letters, from Clarion and IUP. :worship:

IUP is my second choice, with SRU being my first. Hopefully I get accepted there.

I didn't see this coming... so soon, but it isn't surprising. When networks merge or reorganize, there are almost always layoffs. Some positions only need so many people in them - and if NBC is adding it's meteorologists to TWC's current staffing (which we can assume based on the meteorologist titles on Weather Plus being renamed to "TWC Meteorologist"), TWC just doesn't need as many.

Hopefully, we'll find out what positions were effected by the layoffs soon.

:brr: They're predicting an active winter... many are saying the average snowfall for my area will be 20-25" this year and below average temperatures :brr:

Yeah, around here predictions are ranging from 47" to 52", and our normal snowfall is about 40".
