TBH, Atlanta is a cheaper place to run a cable channel out of. NYC is too expensive to run a cable channel out of, despite it being the media center of the world. That's why CNN/TBS is still headquartered in the ATL after all these years.

But yes, hopefully this is another step in the right direction. We're making progress.

TWC is gone from DirecTV as of 11:00 PM CT. Channel 362 switched to the WeatherNation feed.

Honestly, this is the G4 debacle all over again.

I rarely watch anything NBC though, except the local and TWC.  Why should NBC force any provider to carry a network that has lost its focus the way TWC has?  I mean, I know this is the way business works, but come on.  Really, it rolls back to Comcast because of NBC's connection to them. 

Next February is an Olympic month for NBCUniversal with the Sochi 2014 Winter Games, which starts the week after Super Bowl XLVIII. That should provide more incentive for DirecTV to renew the contract.

I saw this on another forum -- if DirecTV were to drop TWC, they'd also lose other NBCUniversal cable networks and maybe NBC and Telemundo O&Os as well. That would end in millions of DTV subscribers pulling the plug.

Checking the WXNation Facebook page right now, and the overall consensus is: "I'm leaving TWC and its long-form programming and turning to WeatherNation. It's what TWC used to be." They're also saying that some TWC OCMs should move to WeatherNation.

Looks like the channel had a quiet launch on DirecTV. I'm liking it so far.
