General Discussion / Re: The Pot Belly Stove
« on: October 31, 2015, 12:07:40 AM »
I just found out myself. I haven't talked to him as much as I did years before but we have been keeping touch through facebook. I just talked to him on there earlier this summer. This is so sad and heartbreaking, I will always remember him as a Humble, caring and smart individual. He helped me with my computer issues in the past especially the one time I got a nasty virus, where he spent a whole hour of his time helping me get rid of it on my PC. Rest in peace buddy!!! You are and will always be an amazing person.  :cry3: :cry3: :cry3:

Wow, that is so sad. He will be greatly missed! His song "Let's Spend Some Time" was used on the October 2006 playlist, and ironically enough I was listening to it last night. O_o

But if he's at all serious about this that would be awesome!! Jazz has been gone so long for me I forget the excitement that I had with the channel. I remember back in 7th grade I would constantly check weather.com/music for the new playlist. But since about 2013 I migrated away from jazz and with the vocals on TWC and going to a new high school everything I listen to mostly is adult alternative with the only instrumentals being Ryan Farish (hence explains the vocal test playlists I put out and my spotify playlists being pretty much all vocals since early 2014).

And I feel this is really disappointing that something great and something that made my childhood years fun had to end!  :furious: :censored: Now with the vocals hitting at a time where High School was just starting and the stress associated with it and the stupidity of immature kids and drama, God talk about a bad time to take away something I could have used to level it out.

I'm also angry because if TWC goes back to jazz, I will be really excited but those songs that they played years ago don't sound that great anymore  :cry3:  I would have to regain interest but I think that's the right way to go but overall I'm upset that I reached a point where I really could care less. Maybe 2015 will be the lucky year.

Also I am still surprised that I didn't know Jazz was gone until May 2012! I watched TWC almost daily during that time?

I adopted instrumental music as my music of choice in 1991, when i started watching TWC. I certainly didnt lose interest when TWC went to crap with the NBC takeover and the vocals on the LF's. If anything i love instrumental/jazz/new age more than ever, as this music has helped solidify my identity while at the same time losing interest in TWC altogether. I am thankful for 29 years of good LF music that TWC has played, and maybe, just maybe if all these changes pan out I might be a fan again.
If TWC returns jazz/instrumentals then I'll probably subscribe to Time Warner Cable at this point and start recording again. I don't even give a damn if the locals are 2 mins long. I think 1 min locals are fine the way they are.

Perhaps Production Music. i know most music on tv these days come from either:

Extreme Music
EMIPM
WCPM
UNIPPM

Could be either one of those.
It was used in this video. I have not been able to even get a copyright tag on YT. But if there is a way to contact the creators of Family Matters...

I have gotten in contact with the creator of Family Matters on this song, hopefully he can lead us into the right direction.
Have you heard back?

I agree, i wouldn't look into it too seriously. Then again who knows.

2009 is no longer the year I consider The Weather Channel to go in a decline. Now I think 2012 is the years where the decline truly started IMP.
I agree. TWC's decline accelerated then when the locals were cut to 1 min and they replaced the music + added even more longform.

I remember the Front Porch was teeming with activities summers ago when I was in High School. :( Either way, only 11 more days until the Pot Belly Stove opens, if anyone even cares lol :P

Does anyone know the name of this song and where to find it? I've had so many good memories of TWC (and in my life in general) during the Live By It Era, and I would remember hearing this music and seeing the lady hailing for a cab in the rain. There used to be a narrationless clip of this music on YT but I dont remember where i found it.

Wow, no posts here in over a month?!

How is everyone doing? It's been a while since I"ve been here. Recently got a job in NYC and moved back here so I've been busy with work and exploring the city. I'm also very collegesick as I miss Rutgers, and the overall laid-back, social atmosphere of college. :(

Never liked the show, so I'm glad to see it gone though I'm not sure that's a fair comparison because I am never up early enough to catch WUWA on TWC nowadays. They will probably just add more longform to fill in the time.
I'm sorry but, if TWC does that They lost it! There has to be a limit on longform!
I hope I'm wrong! But that seems to be the direction TWC is facing nowadays. I highly suspect the LOT8s will be history soon. They keep showing fewer and fewer locals. Makes sense to get rid of it because nobody is going to wait every 10 minutes for the weather when they can just check their phones or computers.
