General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch

Tyler, you missed out  :P

Martin is absolutely right . I also agree with what Mike is saying...I picked ASU because of it's friendly environment, and also because there are some pretty good programs here.
Why visit colleges to party when I can do that at home? :P

I think I made the right choice with my school... I love it, I've made great friends, been to some great parties, etc. Thus why I can't wait to go back! Now if I could only decided exactly I wanted to major in...
That's precisely why I want to choose the colleges I chose to apply for, I want it there for friendliness and the social life. I mean an education is important but you need to be in a friendly atmosphere where you'll make plenty of friends as well. For example, Ivy-league schools tend to be the opposite of that. The majority of the kids there are well you-know-what and tend to be less social then the kids in non-Ivy League schools. Like today I visited Temple University and the atmosphere there seemed quite friendly. There were many friendly students who were willing to help out others. I hope it'll be like that in Rutgers or Penn State as well. I would love to attend a school with a top reputation but the friendliness is also a factor that weighs in heavily as well.

I didn't visit any of the college I applied to (applied and got accepted to 4 universities). Everything I needed to know was on their websites.
It's always good to visit colleges if your curious about the atmosphere of the campus and whatnot that the sites may not provide enough of. I myself like to see how they're like in person regardless.
Well there was one college I wanted to attend but I heard mixed reviews about and the location is not really the best. 50% hate it, and 50% like it.

The song starting at :57 in the first clip is "The Beautiful Game" by Acoustic Alchemy.  I think?
it is :) Was it used on TWC before?
No, I don't think it was, but should have.  The id's for some of these songs are coming from Tunatic.  Obviously these will have to be checked out.
First video:
1:45 "Hyde Park" by Jeff Kashiwa
2:16 "On The Move" by Count Basic
3:03 "Dream Walk" by Keiko Matsui
3:33 "Sunshine In Your Eyes" by The Crusaders
3:59 "Highland Park" by Joe McBride
4:30 "Together Again" by Peter White
5:27 "Dark Chocolate" by Dan Bern

OMG thanks! I got most of these ID'd already except for the last one at 5:27 and that's not it..

Also, this was probably taken around the August 2007 heatwave as Memphis did reach highs of around 106-108 all week long.

On a related note, I find this interesting. First time I saw this channel "behind the scenes" from the Comcast headend here. Spot the channel. :D

During PM Edition at 6, Kim Cunningham said "500 million people in the New York City area are without power". :rofl2: I think she meant to say "500,000 people" and only 300 Million people live in the US . :P

I can already tell that this week ahead is going to be rough for me. :hmm:  Several things have popped up in my life lately, and I have a certification exam to take at the NWS that's not going to be easy.  Please wish me luck as I'm not in good spirits at all right now.
Good luck, Patrick. You will pass the certification exam, don't panic. :)
