So, I've got a bit of an update.  Had a half hour conversation with the Gatekeeper at Network Weather Channel.  His name is Randy Davies and he's been working with them in the PR/Marketing end of things, but for now he's the only point of contact.  The founders actually own a few Newspapers ~ this is their only venture into electronic media.  He's been with them for over 15 years.

Your voices have definitely been heard.  He said point blank that based on what they've heard from fans of The Weather Channel; they plan to use a Smooth Jazz format.  He mentioned artists like Pat Metheny, Alan Holdsworth, Earl Klugh.

He's going to send me some clips of music in a particular direction, for me to work with in composing some experimental samples for them to consider.  They need a Music Coordinator/Sound Architect ~ and I'm campaigning hard that the musician for the job is me.

We'll see where this path leads.  Still need to get past the gatekeeper to the throne room ;o)

Yippee!!!  That would be awesome for TWC to return to smooth jazz! I wish you good success in your efforts, Jeanne. Hope you get that job!
she's talking about Network Weather, not TWC. ;) I will also get ahold of Mr.Davies and see what we can do. This is excellent news though, you will be the best fit for this position Ms. Ricks. :)

I have heard the following at the mall earlier today:

"Walking on Giants" by Blondfire
"Stay" by Lisa Loeb.

Wow, that's funny. That looks like one of Gil's IS videos from Rolling Meadows, IL.

If anyone wants to keep track of the progress of the cold, Intellicast's interactive temperature map is really good. The front has gone through Little Rock, AR and temps dropped from 54 to 42 within 30 minutes!

Meh, I've witnessed a summer thunderstorm that brought our temps down from 84 to 64 within 30 minutes.

Does anyone know where I can find the song "Enchanted City" from the October 2004 playlist? It used to be on gmp music but I can't find any of those Frank Josephs/Ray Herrmann songs on the website anymore  Thanks.

Everything Else Classic TWC / Re: Wayback Playback

During TWC's prime era...those were the days. I remember the blizzard of 96 especially because it occurred during my 3rd birthday and we had a birthday party going on and all of our guests were snowed in for the night and most of the day under 26 inches of snow. We made snowmen, angels and went sledding down the streets because the roads were simply covered with too much snow. It was a great time, still have the photos from queens. Before the power went out, everyone was tuning into twc and checking for blizzard coverage for the updates.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: DirecTV Dropping TWC

I highly doubt directv will drop twc , they'll come up with something last minute like dish. I personally don't care though because I don't watch twc anymore and any competition is welcome. Twc can't be enjoying their monopoly long enough and with network weather, if successful, twc could be in big trouble next year. But overall, I don't see much evolving from this but just talk.
