For some demented reason, a 28 minute version of Macarena by Los Del Rio.

It's not the best deal, but at least we avoided an economic catastrophe.
I'm not so sure given the recent bad news from the markets today.  There's still a lot more that needs to be done to fix this mess.
I agree. There has to be much more of a focus on jobs.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Is cable TV going downhill?

I remember watching Face on Nick Jr., as well as Little Bear, Rugrats, Dora the Explorer... Its been so long I can't really remember anything else. I loved being a kid, if I could go back now (realizing by the end of the decade I'll be around 23y/o) I would.

It has been nostalgic watching Teen Nick and seeing Doug, All That, and Kenan and Kel. Hopefully, they'll show Angry Beavers and Hey Arnold in the coming weeks.  ;)

Everything Else TWC / Re: Transparent TWC Logo
« on: August 02, 2011, 10:36:03 AM »
I haven't seen the L bar all day, LDL is only appearing on the 8s. I'm not quite understanding TWC nowadays, but I do know that weather is the last on their minds.

It's been that way ever since NBC purchased TWC.

I still would rather see live weather coverage and forecasts. I always still find it to be more entertaining than the long-form shows.

I completely agree!

Me too. We just have to get used to it. After 5pm, look elsewhere for weather.  :hmm:

And the weather information is... where?

i guess TWC really thinks viewers will visit weather.com during those times.

Other than that whoever doesn't have any internet is basically screwed out of weather  :footinmouth:

They really should have thought about that. Not everyone has internet access.  <_<

Local Forecast / Re: Has the L-bar been discontinued?
« on: August 01, 2011, 07:17:37 AM »
Why do some of you think the lbar and forecasting is doomed on TWC? Have you actually been watching TWC lately? A year ago (give or take) when there was long form about the only forecast you got was :38 and :58. There were no Local on the 8s, L-bar or otherwise. Now every 30 minutes there is a live weather update, always a local forecast of some kind on the 8s, more break ins and updates for severe weather events. Yes its not ideal and we know everyone hates longform but TWC has done a much better job focusing back on weather.

Yeah, you are right. I was probably being a bit too dramatic about TWC eliminating weather forecasts and the L-bar. Just have to stay positive.  :P

The direction TWC is going is to only have LOT8s, and the :30 update as the only source of weather, but to have all longform. The fact that the L-bar is appearing less is a sign of that.

Sadly, I think you're right.  I truly do.  And then... even the L-bar and :30 updates will disappear.

I sure hope this doesn't happen, but it looks, IMO, like the direction TWC is going.

I think the L-bar is certainly better than nothing.  It's most of a local forecast, but still satisfies the programming gurus by allowing the longform programming to continue.  However, maybe someone thinks it's "too distracting" for the viewer who's looking for entertainment rather than weather forecasts (TWC's new direction, obviously), so that's why they might start phasing out the L-bar and using the LDL only during the 8's, and... no weather information at all at other times.  :(

Not even the lower-third, which has even more information, but just the basic LDL.

And if you don't have an Intellistar... just forget anything local altogether!

The direction TWC is going is to only have LOT8s, and the :30 update as the only source of weather, but to have all longform. The fact that the L-bar is appearing less is a sign of that.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Transparent TWC Logo
« on: July 31, 2011, 05:38:45 PM »
the Transparent Logo is now being used on ICHT and Cantore Stories.

i'll post an update if anymore shows are using it.

This is a big mistake, in my opinion.  Not only is TWC taking away actual weather programming for longform, but they're also taking away the LDL - the one remaining source of weather information - and replacing it with... NOTHING!  Just another step towards becoming a full-fledged weather-oriented entertainment network.

I don't see what is so particularly special about Peter Lik, ICHT, and Cantore Stories to use the transparent logo and take away the LDL. :dunno: To me all these shows are basically the same to me, though I don't watch any of those shows. TWC sure has made some dumb decisions in the last 2 years alone.

At this point I really don't care anymore. TWC has made up their mind the direction they are going in, so the best thing is to watch the times when they actually cover weather.

Not me, it made me cry jus like Atlantica by Ryan farish

It seems like a lot of these songs I think are soothing, you find them depressing.  :P

Yeah, Last Train Home does not sound depressing at all. It is kind of mellow, but actually inspiring at the same time. It was used in a Publix Christmas commercial back in the day, and Tom Sanchez from the now-defunct WSJT 94.1 used to play it every Thanksgiving to kick off the start of the holiday season.
