I was watching MSNBC and breaking news came on that there was a bomb plot by a 17-year-old at Freedom High School in Tampa. Weird thing is, none of the local stations have broke the news yet. I guess they're waiting till 12.  :hmm:

Your Local Weather / Re: Tampa Bay Weather

It seems that this year, we mostly have not have a typical summertime pattern of late afternoon and early evening storms. For most of the summer, it seems we have been stuck in a southwestern flow, with storms starting on the coast or coming off the Gulf, with muggy low temperatures. The rain has been starting between 11 and 1, and intermittent the rest of the day. Also, there have been a lot of dry days in between. There have not been a lot of days of the east and west coast sebreezes colliding inland and storms moving towards the beaches.

It is not easy to get lost in Atlanta, especially on I-285.

Local Forecast / Re: Has the L-bar been discontinued?

TWC doesn't care anymore, IMO. They will continue to promote programming uninterrupted, unless a tropical system is nearing. The L-bar was a good idea to at least show radar and a forecast. All you have now is some dinky LDL.  :club: You absolutely cannot rely on TWC for severe weather coverage (or really any weather coverage) anymore.

84 and mostly cloudy. There is quite a light show in the eastern skies.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

Yes, we think that the Squeezeback has been disabled in lieu of the LDL.

All the wasted money and effort to program the squeezeback... and now they don't use it!

And it's a shame, too.  The squeezeback offered not only current conditions and a look at the forecast for upcoming days, but also the radar and almanac information - very interesting stuff.  Even the lower thirds would give more than just the LDL, but they don't use that anymore, either!

The LDL is what I could call the MINIMUM amount of information, but this is apparently what TWC is relying on for virtually the ONLY source of weather information during longform now.  For the rest of the time, it's just the program with no relationship to the channel we used to know.

If you're going to increasingly play longform, at least the squeezeback and lower thirds gave actual weather info, and showed doppler radar. The LDL offers next to nothing.

From this point forward, anyone doing a political attack on another person will result in a warning or further consequences.  There have been several members who feel so strongly divided about their beliefs that it has caused a wide split at times in threads.  I think it's too much, especially since we all came together here to share in the same interests.  We're all friends here, so let's treat each other respectfully.  Thanks.

I agree.  We should all express our political views without personally attacking each other.

Simply bring the tax level on the wealthy back to levels under Clinton while doing entitlement reform (which is sorely needed, especially SS disability and SSI) and cutting down spending in all areas of government...including defense and -dare I say it? - eliminating Homeland Security.

I disgree. Homeland security is a must to protect against terrorist threats. However, defense needs to be cut. The defense budget was $663.8 billion in our last fiscal year. Who knows what the figure will be the end of this year when you add the Libya mission.

I hate to say that it's funny about how many unintelligent people we have in this country, but some of the answers they give to what we think are easy questions are rather amusing. This Weather Walking/Walking Weather segment reminds me of the Jay Leno show or something.

Exactly, it is like Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" segment.  :P

Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Storm Emily

Florida will only get a few rain squalls and a little surf at best.  If you didn't see the forecast track, this quote from NHC sums it up for the United States coastline:

Quote
GIVEN THE RELATIVELY WEAK WIND FIELD OF THE DEPRESSION...AND ITS FORECAST MOVEMENT AWAY FROM THE BAHAMAS AND THE UNITED STATES...NO TROPICAL CYCLONE WATCHES OR WARNINGS ARE NEEDED.  THE MAIN IMPACT WILL BE HEAVY RAINFALL OVER THE NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS.

How will Central Florida and the Bay Area be affected?
If youve watched any of the local weather here (specifically Paul Dellegatto), they have said that Emily will draw in a west-southwest wind for us, keeping lows in the lower to mid-80s

Sheesh, low to mid 80s! How humid!  :o

For starters, taxes for the wealthy have to be raised, and entitlements have to be cut down.

One little problem with the first part of your plan...

IRS: Not enough rich to cover the deficit

Entitlement reform is a necessity.

The IRS can say whatever they want to say. There is no reason why the richest 1% shouldn't be required to pay higher taxes.
