TWC employees have (or at least should have) more important things to do than read a petition trying to save the LOT8s.

I went all over with this post, please try to follow along.

Here is my thing about the LOT8's. It was a revolution for its time. It was great, until the internet came along. People began going online to get their weather. Yes, most have a computer, but for those who don't (or the elderly, for an example), they need local weather information! Perhaps they could get it at the 5pm news, but it is only current for that moment. Those with an XL - out of luck. Those with a 4000 - out of luck. If TWC isn't going to provide WEATHER or force an IStar upgrade (decommission XL, 4K, and Jr), they need to go off the air, or make it a permanent channel meant for one thing that turned into another (aka., MTV, VH1, etc.) - CRAP.

Yup. You forgot to add Nickelodeon, TLC, and Disney to that list. No TV channel is the same now.

I got word that it's still testing due to viewer feedback. It's mist likely going to be a permanent change but if we do complain, they'll yank the lbar locals out
I just got a reply back too.
"Effective Mon, 9/12, we started using a squeeze back Local on the 8s during most live programming at :08, :18, :38 and :48.  Full screen locals will remain as is at :28 / :58. It is most likely a permanent change, although we do continue to monitor viewer feedback. I will be sure to forward your note to our Locals team.
Thank you for letting us know what you think."

 :cry3: :cry3: :cry3:

What possible benefit do they think this has?  For viewers who actually watch The Weather Channel for weather information, very little.  Unfortunately, this isn't the audience TWC is interested in anymore.  :(
I know. I would watch it a lot to get my local info and I liked most of the music as well, but since I can only get my local info at 28/58.. I will most likely get my weather information elsewhere.

Ah well, just another reason not to rely on the Weather Channel for real weather anymore. If the message wasn't clear before, it surely is now, with a big exclamation point. Not a big deal in the big scheme of things, but it is certainly a real bummer for loyal TWC viewers. It bothered me at first, but at this point, I really don't even care if they drop music and/or LFs altogether (which I guarantee they'll do in the future). Life moves on. There are other sources to find out weather.

TWC has made some dumb decisions over the years (Flick and a Forecast, Peter Lik, "Primed for Excitement", rock music, longform, etc), but this really takes the cake. For all I care, they may eventually drop the LOT8s altogether in the future. There needs to be a petition to return LFs on the 8s of each hour during live programming, as there was a petition to return smooth jazz to TWC. If this two LF per hour trend continues, I will no longer tune in to TWC, because it doesn't make the slightest bit of sense to wait til :28 or :58 for a true local forecast.  :club:  I really hope they weren't naive enough to believe that our request for more weather coverage meant at the expense of locals.

Okay, have the special WUWA lists been discontinued? They havent had special coverage in awhile nor preemption, yet playlist music is still playing...
I have been wondering the same thing. I certainly hope they discontinued them. I would rather them stick with the non-vocal music playlists.

Yeah, I prefer it this way too. It sounded really weird to hear top 40 music on the Weather Channel.  :P

If anyone wants Andre Parker's "Woo Woo Woo", it's actually slightly retitled as "Wow Wow Wow" and it's available here:
Wow wOw Wow.

Wow wow wow is an appropriate name for it! It is my favorite overnight song, after Will You Be There.

I smell a lawsuit :P

I agree, because these artists will end up wasting their time and money in recording and submitting music to TWC. As I said earlier, having only two LFs defeats the purpose of even having a playlist. What is the use of having a playlist if several songs end up not being played? Plus, those who don't have Intellistar will have no idea what is going on in their area.  <_<

When I turned on to TWC during WUWA, I didn't see the L-bar. I saw a LF, oddly used at :39, but I would assume that there were five other LFs used during that hour. Now during Day Planner, it's back! I really don't care for the two LFs per hour, but as WeatherWitness said, TWC is obviously not worried about reducing their music LFs, and perhaps these new viewers don't care either. But I know that the music is partly what attracted me and many others to TWC. For TWC to reduce their LFs to twice an hour, if it is permanent, IMO, is the cherry on the sundae in terms of the deterioration of TWC over the last few years.

The L-bar trend is continuing on the 1 am edition of WCL. I sure hope this is just a test, because it would be utterly ridiculous to only have two LFs per hour, and a waste of a good playlist.

Mike Siedel will be in-studio with Todd Santos from 11 AM - 2 PM ET
Not only That, the LO8 L Bar is back at :08, :18, :38 and :48???
I sure hope this is not a trend. Having two LFs per hour defeats the whole purpose of having a playlist.  <_<

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Re: Should the TWCC presence stay?
« on: September 10, 2011, 10:19:22 PM »
Well I think the content should stay for nostalgic reasons. A few minutes ago, I was looking on twcclassics.com, and I was looking at the old playlists. From time to time, I like to look at playlists that were before my time. It was amazing how long they were in the 80s and especially the 90s. Like somebody said on the forum a while back, it's funny how we complain about how long playlists are now. Some of those playlists lasted up to 10 months!  :o

Also, very little repeats. The only playlist with repeats is Daytime (2), Morning (1) and Primetime (5)

Yeah, just wish the trend of primetime jazz would have continued. This is the first time in at least a couple months there isn't really a jazz song there.

At :18, I just heard a saxophone rendition of one of my favorite Michael Jackson songs "Will You Be There."  It is by an artist named Yancyy.
