It's a saxophonist named Yancyy, and yes, it is used on the current Sept/Oct overnight playlist.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs.  :( Monumental loss to the world of technology. His work and legacy can never be replaced.

Fire alarm number eight went off last night, at about 4 in the morning. Someone in our dorm finds it funny to pull the thing every Tuesday or Wednesday of the week, and anyone who knows who is doing it is not turning the person in. I never saw the dorm faculty, the firefighters, or the cops so livid last night.
That's understandable. Who would be so childish and inconsiderate to do such a thing?

Gulf Breeze by Michael C. Lewis would sound good on TWC too.

Finally, some cool weather and low humidity is here!  It feels like autumn already, and it is neat that it comes on the first day of October.

Well, I'm enjoying it while it lasts.  :P Hopefully, they will have a change of heart, like when TWC wanted to change to all rock music, until there was considerable backlash.

I like hearing the locals at :08, :18, :38 and :48 again. The squeezeback makes a lot more sense during longform, IMO.

It is really weird that TWC decided to make such a drastic, unannounced change. But perhaps, we should have seen this coming after their coverage of Irene. During Irene, several hours would go by without an LF. TWC has become increasingly reality based since 2005, anyway, and NBC's purchase just heightened TWC newfound focus on reality and entertainment programming. But it absolutely does not make sense for YWT and WUWA to have the typical LFs on the 8s of the hour, and all the other programs only have it at :28 and :58.

I hope they didn't transition over to the L bar for good.. that would be the stupidest decision TWC has ever made..

They are definitely heading in that direction.

I won't be needing the Stove. :P I'm going to Charlotte, and it's going to be in the 80's there!
I think the Front Porch will still be needed here for at least another month.  :P

Is anyone else dealing with all of this rain? I swear I don't think I have had a full day of sun in weeks!
It was dry down here in the Bay Area for quite a while, but 2 out of the last 3 days, there were some good downpours. This afternoon, the weather was flat out nasty with heavy rain, vivid lighting and high winds!

I am all for death of a criminal if he commits an unimaginable act like killing a cop or another respected figure, goes on a mass murder spree or does domestic terrorism.
Personally I value taking anyones life as an unimaginable act, not just if they are a cop or respected figure. I never understood why the legal systems values one life over another based on that. A life is a life. Doesn't matter if its Bob who works at the paper mill or Bob who is a famous actor.
No matter how heinous a crime is, or how evil a person is, I do not wish death on anybody. I have no bones about saying that. And imagine if years down the road, it was proved that Davis really didn't do it? They couldn't even find a weapon!!!!!!
So if I go kill 50 people for no reason at all in cold blood you support the government paying my food, water, clothing, medical care and security requirements for the rest of my life? Why not put that money towards the poor or programs to help troubled kids before they make a bad decision in life? I respect people who value life but if you are going to kill someone you forfeit the right to live in my opinion. The world is not perfect and we have to make tough decisions in life. The good of the masses sometimes outweighs the individual.
If Troy Davis really did it, he should spend life in prison. But don't you think it is rather troubling how many witnesses recanted and how shoddy the evidence was, and yet they went ahead and executed him?  :dunno:  That's my final two cents on this topic.
