General Discussion / Re: The State of the Union

Saying that the Tea Party wants the country to fail is a flat out lie, as I've explained before. Just because you don't want your children and grandchildren crippled with debt, doesn't mean you hate the country. And anyone with more intelligence that a pile of dog crap knows that. I'm sure I'll get a spanking for saying something that, but come on! How much lower can you get than to say that I want my country to go under (I'm a Tea Party member). :censored: Needless to say, I've had enough of this conversation. As much as I love talking about politics, there's not much point in carrying on a conversation with someone that childish.
Childish?!  :rofl2: And what I said may not apply to you, but it applies to many people in your party. I am just stating facts. But too many conservatives simply cannot handle the truth! It is well documented what Rush Limbaugh, Mitch McConnell, and John Boehner all said. You can Google it. The President has gone out of his way to compromise with the GOP, and he has repeated been rejected and disrespected. Many of us liberals thought he was too compromising at times, but you have to give a little to get something done. I will say one last thing. The State of the Union further cemented the difference between him and Newton Gingrich and/or Willard Romney.  :P

The Democrats often annoy me because they don't show the support to their President that they should, and they don't have the guts to stand up to the poison and lies spewed by the GOP.

The "power" was more of a threat in the case that Congress still decides to be uncooperative and prevent anything from getting done this year. "Inches away from being a dictator?" Yes, we are so close to being just like North Korea.  <_<

Exactly. People are tired of the do-nothing Congress, and it is reflected in its barely double-digit approval rating. And ironically, part of the disapproval comes from many Republicans. As Pop Light Brown said, the GOP and Tea Party have been hoping and praying that our country fails under President Obama. McConnell and Boehner both said what their goal is. And if you're talking about dictatorship, how do you explain Newton wanting to put children to work as janitors, and Willard wanting houses to run its course and get foreclosed, then?

If any of you haven't paid attention, speeches commonly take quotes or ideas from speeches of the past. So if he took a few parts from speeches to emphasize his points so friggin what.  This is a stupid and pointless article.  91% approved of his speech according to the polls. Obviously, some of the 9 percent of people who didn't like it are on this board.  :club:

Thank You! I don't want to get into any political debate here but most of the people on here don't like Obama/his speech for reasons in which I don't know. That's definitely true.

Thanks for using my quote from last year.  :P But it still stands true today. President Obama had an outstanding SOTU speech. One of the most striking things that he said was that the big banks and corporations were not going to recieve the bailouts, handouts, and copouts that they received before.

There was a weird incident at 5:48pm ET, when Fireworks by Moby started to play, and then it was interrupted by some other song that sounded like 7and5, and the song ended, and Oscillate Wildly actually began to play towards the end of the LF.

Ugh, it's chilly again <_< While I do like cold, what's pissing me off is when you have cold mornings and hot afternoons.. highs close to 80 today!

It was 43°F at around 1am. 12 hours later, it is 73°F! A 30-degree swing already!

I think if even there was more new age, like more Ryan Farish, or 7and5, the playlist wouldn't sound quite as jarring. There are only like 5 good songs IMO on this list. They should not have messed with the daytime and overnight.

Meh, there are some songs that are nice like Daft Punk's End of the Line, and Groovemension by Ryan Farish.  :itsok: They'll have to put back smooth jazz at some point.

What is up with all of the rock music?  :club:

I would say TWC didn't pay particularly close attention to any of the 2011 Jazz CD's that came out which lead to a basically all rock list. hopefully with new 2012 Jazz CD's to come out by March there would be a more Smooth blended list.
Yeah, I was wondering why TWC didn't pay attention to Spyro Gyra and the Rippingtons' releases in 2011.

Groovemension may be the best song I have heard on the playlist so far.

Anybody know of some good, modern cafe music? I'm a music director for the church cafe now!!
Like lounge music? I know some very good music albums (i.g. Ibiza Mixes and Deep and Wide) and they make good lounge music.

or if you're thinking TWC..Sun Sleeper by Greg Long and Truth, Simplicity and Love by Soulstance make good cafe music too
Also Cafe LA by Shahin and Sepehr, and Bad Bad Simba by Paprika Soul.

Banned for being appalled that TWC is playing mostly rock.

I'm actually somewhat confused by this playlist. I guess it's because as it's mostly rock, it breaks from the norm of the past several playlists, which definitely a lot more jazz than this one. It reminds of the first time I heard a vocal song on TWC. I was confused by it too, and I thought it was some kind of error.
The mostly rock playlist didn't work in 09, and it won't work now. If there is no jazz, it may be time to fire up that peititon again.
