Not sure if you can quite call this a blooper, but some guy got the bright idea to try and bum rush Jim Cantore when he was reporting in Charleston, SC. Needless to say, Jim has very good reflexes.

So, I've got a bit of an update.  Had a half hour conversation with the Gatekeeper at Network Weather Channel.  His name is Randy Davies and he's been working with them in the PR/Marketing end of things, but for now he's the only point of contact.  The founders actually own a few Newspapers ~ this is their only venture into electronic media.  He's been with them for over 15 years.

Your voices have definitely been heard.  He said point blank that based on what they've heard from fans of The Weather Channel; they plan to use a Smooth Jazz format.  He mentioned artists like Pat Metheny, Alan Holdsworth, Earl Klugh.

He's going to send me some clips of music in a particular direction, for me to work with in composing some experimental samples for them to consider.  They need a Music Coordinator/Sound Architect ~ and I'm campaigning hard that the musician for the job is me.

We'll see where this path leads.  Still need to get past the gatekeeper to the throne room ;o)

Yippee!!!  That would be awesome for TWC to return to smooth jazz! I wish you good success in your efforts, Jeanne. Hope you get that job!

During the NBA coverage on ABC and ESPN today, I have heard snippets of Linus and Lucy and Wizards in Winter, and Christmas Eve Sarajevo played at the San Antonio Spurs' arena.

It would be a real shame not to have a Christmas playlist, but to have the same two songs playing over and over. It has been a little over a month since the relaunch. TWC should have added some new songs by now.

My prayers go out to Joe for a full and complete recovery. I was familiar with his work even before TWC, from listening to the now-defunct WSJT 94.1 FM. The IS error turned out to be a blessing in disguise to hear a classic like Rainbow Seeker again.  Another memorable song from Joe was Oasis, which I heard quite a bit back in June 2000.

Can anyone ID a funky (mostly) instrumental song with a trumpet that played at :18?

That is one of my favorites from 98 (which had a lot of classics that year). Takes me back!

Nicole has found work again, per Facebook on August 20:

I am pleased to announce my return to the airwaves tomorrow!
I recently joined on with Al Jazeera America as part of the meteorology department, and for now I will be on as the morning meterologist from 7-8:30am Eastern (and also 11am the rest of this week).
I did a lot of research prior to joining this team, and I was impressed by the strong reputation of their journalism. I actually started in TV on the "news" (versus weather) side, and it's wonderful to be with a company with a serious committment to real, in-depth news, or as our chief executive said to The New York Times: “There will be less opinion, less yelling and fewer celebrity sightings.”
And, no, I wasn't asked to post anything....I would welcome the addition of a network with more serious news coverage regardless of whether or not I worked there! :-)
Plus, it has been exciting to help get a new station off the ground and aid in getting our weather department going!
No, this doesn't mean I have left the Reserves. In fact, I leave Friday with the full support of my new supervisor (a fellow Vet!).

So, I would be honored if you would check us out.
As I said, I will be on bright and early tomorrow. Hope to "see" you then!

Real sad day in America when someone who killed an unarmed child is found not guilty.
