Local Forecast / Re: New March List?
« on: March 04, 2010, 09:00:03 PM »
I have not been impressed with what I have heard so far.
The only remotely smooth jazz sounding song is by Ron Fattoruso, which has been overplayed, though it is a good song. Does anyone have the full playlist? I hope the morning and daytime are much better.  :(

I actually had a dream this morning that I heard Santana's Oye Como Va play on the Local on the 8's.

The daytime is way better
I don't mind the bi or tri monthly playlists as long as it's a solid playlist being used. When they used to do that prior to 2000 the songs on the playlist were a very good mix, this one on the other hand is good, but the primetime part brings it down.
Daytime isn't good either. Hopefully my March list will take its place for now.

Yeah, but I think the primetime is worse.

The daytime is decent. I especially like What If, Spirit, and Nothing But Love. The primetime list sucks! :hammer:   Enough of that Sam Spence stuff! Football season is over! So is the Olympics! I really would like to see a new playlist soon.

Does anyone have any idea when a new March playlist will begin? We are going into three months now with the same playlist. It is starting to get really tiring. I mean, the playlist is decent, certainly not great.  I like the daytime playlist, and some of the morning songs, but the primetime list is very mediocre (e.g. Sam Spence, the Olympic music, Jurrasic Park :o). The point is, the playlist is not that good to carry on for three months. I guess TWC is no longer carrying monthly playlists.  :hmm: It wouldn't shock me to see this playlist last till mid to late March, and it may not be that soon, either.

I hope the new playlist will start before February ends at least. There is no way we can go an entire year with playlists lasting 2 to 3 months.   There have to be some monthly playlists.

I can almost hum Nobody's Fool, it is kind of a funky, jazzy, new jack swing sounding song. I have fond memories of it, because when it was playing, my Lakers beat the Sixers in the NBA Finals. It also makes me think of J-Lo's "Play" which was a hit at the time. But I can't find any clips of Nobody's Fool, anywhere!!!! :dunno:

Spirit and You're Always Around are equally as good. They are two of the best songs on the entire playlist.

Sorry, I don't think I have the equipment on me now to record the Local on the 8's.

These are the songs I like:

What If…  - Anthony James Baker
This is the best song on the playlist
Rain Daze  - Jim Weider
Europa    -   Santana    Classic
Nothin' But Love    -    Boney James
Theme From "Shaft"  - Isaac Hayes
Magnificent Eleven  remix -  Sam Spence
I was definitely bobbin' my head to this one. It really isn't a typical TWC song, but it is better than a lot of the other songs on the playlist.
Eminence Front -  The Who

Btw, there is a song with a saxophone playing, along with a trumpet. I have been looking for the song, but I'm guessing it is Spirit by Ron Fattorouso.

There are waaaaay too many repeats on this playlist.

:nono: I think Stone Groove is actually becoming the next Restless Heart, moreso than Bodhi. Over the last year, I am sure it has played on at least 3 playlists. It is not Boney James' best song. I like Nothin But Love, from back in the day, but I have not heard it on the Weather Channel yet!!!! :dunno: Maybe I have to tape it in the daytime, or something. I like Eminence Front by the Who. To be honest, I never recall listening to anything by the Who, but I downloaded, and it is really good. It is kind of funky too. But there has not been a consistently good playlist since April/May 2009.  A song I do wish they would bring back is King of the Burgs by Lettuce. That is a jam! If I were to rate this playlsit, I would give it 6 out of 10, and it got extra points for the Shaft theme.

Everything Else TWC / Alexandra Steele's accent

Where is Alexandra Steele from? Her accent sounds like part New York and part Southern.

The daytime playlist is very good, as it has been since September. The primetime playlist is meh. :noexpression:

I wish would extend the playlist to 8pm again. That is the only playlist with consistent smooth jazz. The only song we could do without is Stone Groove. I like Boney James, but we have heard that song for like 3-4 months since last summer.

Local Forecast / What do you think about the Nov/Dec Playlist
« on: December 05, 2009, 04:30:35 PM »
I'd say it is pretty decent. The daytime has the best playlist by far. The morning is okay, but the primetime is very strange. These are my favorites from the playlist:

Ritmo De Otomo - Bernie Williams Feat. Dave Koz
Elizabeth   - David Foster
Living in High Definition - George Benson
In The Moment - Freddie Washington
Big Foot - Jim Weider
Metameme - Sound Tribe Sector 9 (though it was already used in July/August)
The Home Alone Theme - John Williams (appropriate for the Holidays)
First Gust - Chris Geith
Soulful Strut - Young-Holt Unlimited
Forever In Love - The Love Unlimited Orchestra (they have used quite a few songs the last few months from Barry and LUO)

I'm not sure why they put football music in the primetime list. I wish they would extend the daytime list to at least 7 or 8, again, because that is the only list with consistent smooth jazz.

:) Good that there is still smooth jazz. Listened to some of the songs online. There is good stuff. I am diggin that George Benson Livin in High Definition. From what I see so far, Daytime features the best playlist.
