Local Forecast / Original Simple Pleasure by Jeanne Ricks
« on: July 21, 2010, 12:11:15 AM »
Does anybody have the complete full length version of the original Simple Pleasure by Jeanne Ricks? The one that played in May 05 and Feb 07? I prefer that version better than the one on the CD.

Guilty pleasure:  Old School Madonna

I love old school Madonna!!!!     Especially the songs like Holiday, Get into the Groove (probably her funkiest song), Borderline, Lucky Star, Dress You Up With My Love, Justify My Love, and Vogue.

I first remember it in 1995. It could be earlier, though, perhaps 1994. I remember riding around with my little bike in the patio with Kenny G's All in One Night in my head.

In the August 2005 section, how come the clip for "By Chance" by Anthony James Baker  is the same as "What If" from the Jan/Feb 2010 playlist?

General Discussion / Re: Songs You Love To Hate
« on: July 18, 2010, 09:15:45 PM »
Uh, everything. :P First of all, it's not music. Music requires a melody and I've never heard a rap song with a melody. Then there's all the lyrics about hating white people and cops, exploiting women, and glamorizing violence. Sure, not ALL rappers are like that. But a lot of them are.
I couldn't have explained it better myself.

Rap music:  x1000000
Couldn't have said it better then both of you

Rap is not all about hating White people and the cops. That era passed by years ago, and only a handful of groups and artists talked about that sutff. Plus, most of it was social commentary on the plight of Blacks in the "hood", and on the street. Rap is a unique and beautiful art form that unfortunately has been dilluted over the past 10 to 15 years. Again, you need to listen to rap from "back in the day." Basically, anything up until maybe 2000.

Right now, I am listening to Tourcato Mariano's A Very Special Place. Classic TWC song from '97. It is so smooth, yet so funky.  :)
